Meditation among birds

Hi there, friends of our feathered friends!

😀

During my summer holidays in Varadero, I often wondered how many of the hotel guests had noticed the diversity of birds that could be spotted each morning along the green strip bordering the exquisitely fine, dazzling white sands—so distinctive of that tourist destination.

$1

Perhaps not many... and today, as I recall those moments, memories come to mind, like the hotel staff I used to run into early in the morning. They greeted me with great courtesy, though they seemed a little puzzled to see me roaming with my camera among palm trees, coconut trees, shrubs, and other tall, striking trees, trying to locate every bird that made even the faintest sound.

$1

This one, for example, is a green woodpecker. And it wasn’t alone.

$1

I was deeply moved by the few seconds they gave me to photograph them, and this was the most decent image I managed to capture before they flew off, full of joy. Only the Universe knows what they were up to—perhaps falling in love, or simply enjoying a pleasant moment of beautiful friendship... 😍 I love watching birds... I believe they are angels among us, here to teach us the power of wings.

$1

This is a chichinguaco (Quiscalus niger). There were so many of them... their green eyes are a distinctive feature in adults. Oh, but they were so noisy... and they always came to eat with the guests at the buffet.

$1

$1

Other birds I loved spotting from the moment I stepped out at 7 a.m., just as the light began to break, were the Northern Mockingbirds (Mimus polyglottos) and the Pitirre GuatĂbere (Tyrannus caudifasciatus).

$1

$1

I only took a few photos, but you can listen to our mockingbird here if you’d like.

In its song, it mimics birds, car alarms, doors closing, and other sounds—repeating each phrase between five and seven times before switching to the next set of notes. (Source: eBird)

$1

Here, the Pitirre Guatíbere seemed to be having an important conversation with a sparrow. What do you think they were talking about? 😂 This is a creativity exercise.

What a frustration I felt... one morning during my outings, I had a lifer: a white-crowned pigeon or Torcaza cabeciblanca (Patagioenas leucocephala). Wow, so immense... and my camera jammed. Haha... I’ll show you that disaster, but don’t laugh. Haha... well, go ahead and laugh. Why not. đŸ€·â€â™€

$1

Better check it out on eBird—my photo’s completely useless. Torcaza cabeciblanca (Patagioenas leucocephala)

They’re large in size, but shy... they flee at the slightest movement. That’s life... what can we do... just wait for another chance with her.

And well... every day I saw rabihorcados, palm swifts, common pigeons, tiny doves, hummingbirds... they were always having a party; some flying nonstop, others singing and chattering, some tapping on the trunks... The philosophers—those who converse from branch to branch... and so it goes. All of them busy.

So after spending an hour surrounded by such beauty, with thoughts steeped in grace and a wish that they might positively touch those who appeared in them, I would head to the sea.

$1

There, I kept spotting birds... this one, for instance, was a twist dancer.

Here in my neighbourhood, I’ve only seen the jabao woodpecker; It was a surprise for me to spot the green one. And when I mentioned it at the birdwatching club, they told me there are others I didn’t know about that can be seen in Las Terrazas, a beautiful place and biosphere reserve. I’ll try to make a trip there to see them.

Thank you!

I’ve found birdwatching to be a deeply rewarding way of seeing life and understanding things... I feel very relaxed, and it’s wonderful because you’re constantly in close contact with nature. Of course, I still have a lot to learn—but step by step.

Thanks to you!

Yesterday I felt just like you describe while, on two different occasions, I came across a hummingbird in complete calm.
It's simply fantastic.

This is a very good catch,I know it is very difficult to capture a picture of a bird,But your screenshot is cool.

Some birds are friendlier or less shy than others... it’s truly a challenge to photograph them. But I love it and enjoy it so much. Thanks for stopping by, and welcome to my blog!

I think that in that conversation between birds, one was telling the other how tall it is, while the other was saying that it can fly lighter. Their conversation was about size. Look at the big one's gaze; it wants to win, that's obvious.😂

Joking aside, I imagine the people at the hotel looking at you, wondering what this woman is doing with her camera among the palm trees, but you knew exactly what you were doing: capturing the most beautiful photographs of various birds, like that striking black one or the beautiful woodpecker. It doesn't matter that the camera got stuck on that particular bird, it's still beautiful. Thank you very much, Nani, hugs!

😄 Don’t lie to me with such tenderness hahaha, that photo of mine is a disaster. And I didn’t have time, it flew away. Birds teach us many things in life, like maybe it just wasn’t the right moment for me to set all the camera settings... or maybe it’s not meant for me. Perhaps one day I’ll come across another one like her. Closer to home, even.

Yes, it’s a kind of conversation between those two birds. Or maybe the pitirre was giving the sparrow a singing lesson.

Thank you Avecilla por el apoyo.

You're a great photographer, even when the camera misbehaves. What matters is talent. It was a bird... from another plane đŸ€Ł

Hello dear friend @nanixxx, good morning

What you say is very true. These days, few people go on vacation with a camera to take photographs of nature or wildlife. I'm not surprised the hotel staff noticed your presence during your photo ops, given that, as you rightly mention, few people do.

What a beautiful carpenter couple! You chose a beautiful place to fall in love.

Beautiful photographs. I appreciate you sharing them with us.

Have a beautiful Sunday.

Ah, feliz domingo @jlufer.

I love the photographs you took, I can almost feel the warm weather and the beach. What a beautiful red hat has the woodpecker 😅, and the last one, so elegant it seems a superstar on the red carpet 😄

Censura?

Hi @nanixxx, I have done several things while walking through the publication. One watch birds, two, try to imagine doing those photographs and third, together with my mother to listen to the recordings ... and we have agreed that the song we like most is that of the Sinste.

I loved the two chichinguaco birds on the table. đŸ€—

A hug!!

😂 Multitasking!

I’m so glad you love the Sinsonte
and I’ll tell you something: there are still so many birds I haven’t seen here. I look at the birdwatchers’ group and marvel at the wonders they spot
no doubt about it, I need to get myself to the wild! 😜

I love the variety of birds you see.
I am laughing with you, but not at you. I have had similar shots to your white headed pigeon life lol! That would have been a stunning shot!

We twist and go again. The gull is showing you the way...

I understand, don’t worry, these are the funny little things that happen to us. But it doesn’t matter, there will always be new opportunities. 😅

Thank you @tengolotodo. Good night.
