Despite it all, I whisper to myself: I must look for gardens
Havana, 30 September 2025.
I’d never seen so many painted walls, so many vandalised corners, so much disorder… chaos.
And people shout from one pavement to the other that the power’s gone out.
The shops look like open mouths, where people and flies wander.
The deafening roar of the generators and the rattling of the old tin that makes up the almendrones (those picturesque taxis of our Havana) drills into your ears, your spirit, your faith…
... but I resist, and I look up at the sky. There were two birds in the sky, flying together.
🤔
Who says walls don’t gaze at the sky too… and become the mirrors in which we see ourselves.
It’s not complaint for complaint’s sake… but I can’t pretend this is a beautiful garden.
And yet, I smiled as I saw the drizzle falling under full sun. The petrichor felt magical… if I could abstract myself just enough to see art where… well, I’ve said it already.
This is what today brings… along with plenty of uncertainty.
And I also tell myself to trust in who I am. There’s so much to be grateful for—today, tomorrow, and always.

Gritty is a good word to describe this post that first snap is very clever, and what a lovely looking dress it seems out of place with the buildings.
Why do people destroy their neighbourhoods with so much trash just dumped on the side walk Shocking
We can't cover the sun with a finger. And about the people… victims. They dump it there because there's nowhere else to put it. There are no rubbish bins, and the trucks don’t come to collect it. It’s a serious infrastructure problem, and other things… connected to… honestly, I don’t even know anymore. Everything is collapsing.
Gosh, that sounds horrendous
Those reflected window-shots in particular are superb! You're very talented - definitely something to give thanks for :)
😉
I believe we all have to be grateful for that, because we all have talents. And they’re there like pieces of a puzzle. It’s important to know what we’re good at and where we’re effective, so we can fulfil our life’s purpose.
Thank you!
Chaos reigns throughout the world in different ways, says Facundo Cabral: Evil seems to be in the majority because it makes a lot of noise... good is silent but it is in the majority.
These images are fabulous, a reflection of another plane in a crystal, and seeing how life emerges from chaos in the form of a plant...
🤗 First I’m sending you a hug… and then I’ll say I completely agree with what you said. There’s something magical about silence. Whenever I think about what you’re saying, my mind goes straight to the earth, and even deeper, where seeds quietly grow until they become towering trees.
Thank you!
If people learned more from nature, things would be different... I think you'll like what I'm going to do tomorrow, haha.🤗
😃
I’ll let you surprise me!
😁

The Attitude of Gratitude is priceless! Glad you found that treasure in your fertile garden of the heart, soul, and mind.
I think it’s something we should never forget. People who live on autopilot often do. It’s a shame, because this world would be different if more people were grateful—if they understood that life is a beautiful treasure, full of surprises and endless possibilities. Of course, we have to deal with emotions, but faith moves mountains.
Thank you so much, @castleberry, friend.
Yes, faith moves mountains and hope is never lost... even when it FEELS like there is none! Autopilot is too easy to do when life is too comfortable or when it's too miserable. If more people with a good living situation valued their circumstances better then we would have a much better world. I think people who live in suffering yet are able to overcome with hope and faith serve as ambassadors to the rest of the world for how to live a successful life. I hate hearing people who have it easy complain when there is so much to be grateful for! Keep the faith and hope flowing and take care my dear friend.
You're absolutely right. Thank you, and yes, I'm taking care of myself. 🤗 Almost the weekend—hope you enjoy it fully with your family.
Hermoso trabajo!!!
Los Reflejos me han encantado!
