Refection Hunters 159: Behind The Colorful Ships Behind Me While Waiting To Enter To The Floating Library

Good morning, everyone.

Yesterday, it was so hot and my mom and I wanted to go out and we were thinking where to go. It was already 6 p.m. when we decided to go visit the floating library at San Fernando Sea Port here in La Union. It's called Doulos Hope. I'm excited to share with you a little adventure we had last night. We visited this incredible place called Doulos Hope. Doulos Hope is a floating library. It's a ship filled with books, making its way around Southeast Asia. It is owned by the faith-based organization Operation Mobilisation and operated by the German charity Gute Bücher für Alle. It's been in service since 2023 and has already traveled over 4,350 miles. The ship has visited ports in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and here in the Philippines, welcoming almost 120,000 visitors and selling close to 150,000 books. As we stepped onto the ship, we were very excited. The ship was buzzing with people of all ages and walking inside got me a little dizzy because of the waves but it was fun. I bought some pens and notebooks. There were so many people inside the ship and everyone was excited to read and buy books.

My photos, which I am going to share, were the ones we took while we were on the line. It took us 45 minutes just to get inside the ship but it was worth it. While waiting, there were ships behind me, and their huge lights reflected on the water, which was so beautiful. So I am sharing them as my entry to @olgavita's Reflection Hunter Contest Round 159.

That's all for today. I hope you enjoy it, and thank you for reading. Have a great day to all.

Oh wow, that's cool!

Last year, we had the chance to visit MV Logos Hope when it docked here in Abu Dhabi. Lots of books and the experience is out of ordinary.

Wow, interesting catch! And Doulos Hope and Logos Hope are both owned by the same "faith based" organization? And what does faith based mean here? Makes me remember Nintendo ... to be continued under the main post.

... continued from ... what a find! Faith based makes me remember Nintendo. Is it something like tolfa.us? They have list of books maybe available in one of those Vessels?

Only recently I red in an online lexicon that in Japan playing cards were prohibited before the end of the 19th century, until the people played anyway. And Nintendo was one of the first commercial publishers for original Japanese cards before manufacturing toys like Lego did in Europe.

Now I wished someone would have some of those cards and showed me a game that was played with it.

PS: Interestingly enough we were introduced to Dobutsu Shogi recently. Shogi is a Japanese chess variant. It can be played online at dozens of "places". And Dobutsu has been published as "Catch the lion" in Europe. Kind of missionary. =8-D
