A walk through the village of Los Dos Ríos

image.png

This is the last part of my tour through the towns of the Montes Municipality, and although I would have liked to show you all of them, some hamlets have problems with their roads, bridges, or transportation routes, making them inaccessible in regular cars. Only pickup trucks or off-road vehicles can overcome the obstacles along the way.

In one of my last post, I reviewed my visit to San Lorenzo, another town in this municipality, and after being there for a while, we left for another of the nearby and most popular towns in this area called Los dos Ríos, which has one of the best-known spas in the area and which we wanted to visit.

You can enter the Los Dos Ríos resort for free. Even from the main road, you can see not only the crystal-clear pool where you can dive in and cool off from the heat, but also the various thatched huts and cabins that allow tourists to spend a pleasant day surrounded by nature.

We parked the car and got out. We immediately felt the change in the weather, as the surrounding mountains and lush vegetation made the temperature much more pleasant. It was a shame we weren't prepared to swim in the river because the lively atmosphere and the inviting pool made us want to stay and swim for a while.

Just 15 minutes from Cumanacoa lies this place filled with crystal-clear waters and lush trees. From what we understand, the cabins can accommodate up to 5 people, ideal for families; there are also kiosks with grills and built-in tables. It's the perfect place to disconnect and reconnect with nature.

While we were there, someone arrived and started telling us about another place just as natural and beautiful as this one, but only 10 minutes away. We asked about the condition of the roads to that place (this is essential to know if you're coming from this area) and this person told us that while some sections were in very poor condition, others were paved and that in the end, it was worth the trip.

Without further ado, and eager to explore this place, we got in the car and began our journey. The sound and sight of the river accompanied us, sometimes flowing strongly and at other times not so much. As for the roads, it must be said that some sections were in very poor condition, perhaps due to recent flooding, but also due to mismanagement by the authorities.

What we did find beautiful was the landscape, its colors. The green and blue created fresh, dreamlike spaces. There weren't many houses, but plenty of fields that testified to the daily work of the people in this area. At times we thought we were lost, but every time we met someone they told us no, just keep going, we were close.

Before reaching the end of a riverbed, we were told we should take a detour to find the place we were looking for. Without hesitation, we excitedly took the detour because we had finally arrived at the Agua Blanca waterfalls.

Indeed, when we arrived we were impressed not only by the amount of water, but also by the natural atmosphere of the place. Upon arrival, we saw some people who had brought their cooking utensils and supplies to enjoy a pleasant day.

From what we gathered, these are just a few pools and waterfalls, but as you continue, you'll find many taller waterfalls with much colder water. Since we weren't prepared for swimming or climbing, we only went as far as this area, as the car couldn't make it up.

We'll definitely be back, now better prepared and ready to swim in these waterfalls. While the roads have some damaged and deteriorated sections, as the woman we met mentioned, the trip is well worth it. Because nobody says everything has to be perfect to enjoy a place; everyone brings their own positive attitude, and we certainly have plenty of that.

Really appreciate you showing the tough roads too instead of just the nice parts, most people hide that side in travel posts. Glad you made it there safely!

Yes, sometimes it's worth taking a chance to find something different. Although it was a bit remote, there weren't many tourists, and from what we were told, if we kept going up, we could find more powerful and beautiful waterfalls. Greetings and thanks for the support.

This is a slightly sensitive question, but could you tell me how much your trip cost? I'd also like to take my family to a place like that.

It didn't cost anything, just the gas. All these places are free. Cheers

Sunny day and an amazing place to visit. Wow! Loved it completely. Though there was a little water where some people were trying to swim, it was enough to make me happy. And you, you look fantastic here.
