Stray Puppies with Aerochrome

Kodak Aerochrome was initially a film developed during World War 2 that was used in capturing a more infrared look, in hopes that it would help with revealing enemy locations during wartime. Though, with its unique look, it ended up sticking around long after WW2 and becoming a consumer favourite for its false colour look. The film stopped being made back in 2009, and despite people begging Kodak to return it, you now have to buy an infrared camera or shoot digital and edit in post. I have a style in Capture One that simulates Aerochrome and figured it would suit these images of strays I photographed.

These three strays are adorable little things that suddenly appeared outside of the apartment, and I can see them from my balcony every day. They're the sweetest little things and appear to be getting well taken care of by everyone around; either providing bedding for them or feeding them and giving them drinking water. The parents of the puppies are still around, but seem to be keeping a larger distance as they keep other stray dogs at bay in the area. So, for the most part, these puppies are being raised by the apartment complex citizens.

The puppies are incredibly small as still learning about their strength. They're only just starting to make little noises which are really cute as they play together. The three of them, while each having a distinct feature, seem to really rely on each other's presence. It's really sweet to see. Their little noises or them playing together in the evenings, how they curl up and sleep together for the warmth and safety. It's so tempting to just pick them all up and take them home to keep. They're definitely puppies you wouldn't want to split up based on the connection they have with each other.

I quite like how these came out on the Aerochrome look. There's a softness to the images and even with the infrared look I think it adds to it. It works with the softness of little puppies. I mean, just look at that tiny little face and those floppy ears!
