Sensor Dirt and Poor Light

Today was a bit of an uneventful day with the photography. The weather picked up and was beautiful, but I got into the city a little late with some poor planning and last minute decisions to get out instead of staying home. By the time I arrived in the city and had a coffee, the sun was already fleeting. Cringing at a girl holding a selfie stick and shooting a supposed cafe ad from a smartphone, I remembered I wanted to start a company here in Armenia, and ran off to the translation service company to get my passport translated into Armenian, the first step of many to come. I found myself feeling motivated, that realisation that the market for what I wanted to do was so thin, so void of professionalism, and that I could quite easily tap into it if I just put myself out there and really worked hard. Getting up and actually doing something. I messaged a few people here about photoshoots, finding people that may be interested in some more commercial sort of shoots that could contribute to my networking and building a bit more of a portfolio. I felt the annoyance of leaving my gimbal at home today, taking my laptop instead that I barely used.

I roamed a bit through Yerevan, but after a few shots I noticed something a bit off. Some dirt in the images somewhere. I cleaned the front element of the lens, and nothing changed. I was worried maybe something was inside the lens, so I removed the lens from the body to which I noticed that somehow there was something on the sensor. Now I don't usually clean things this way, but in the middle of the street I found a more quiet space, removing the lens and blowing away the dirt on the sensor. This meant that a few of my images were ruined by sensor dirt. At this point I couldn't go back and shoot those images again, the light already disappearing. I just told myself I'd return another day and capture the images again, that there's always tomorrow. Summer just starting. And my motivation at its highest. I even considered taking the gimbal to do even more than the stills in the area, taking note of how the sun moved across the sky at certain times and at which angles. The way the light pushed through the green trees in the city, the shadows it caused, and the potential in stills and video in such areas.

Though today's light was flat. Strong in some areas, but hiding away as the sun fell behind buildings. Everything then just a bit boring. Not much interest in the light to capture things. The artificial lighting still yet to turn on and provide some colour to the city's streets. Instead a brief period of just nothing. I still walked plenty, looking around and enjoying the scenes. Though Yerevan is absolutely packed with people suddenly, definitely more tourism as the weather's picked up. Definitely too many cars and people around in some areas. Sort of a bit chaotic and stressful at times. Making me long to discover the more isolated areas a bit more. Perhaps that's my next walk!

I don't know much about photography and the light might have been "flat" but to me it makes the pictures look soft and pretty. It gives me the feeling of a warm afternoon, a really pretty vibe.

Your pictures are always awesome
