Black and white 21:9 aspect ratio 35mm film photographs

I had some images left over from a roll of film I shot recently, and some of those images didn't quite turn out as I would have liked. Something felt a bit off with them and that's typically normal for a roll of film. Some are hits, some you think might be and just end up the opposite. So I did something to try to fix these a bit more. I figured I'd have some fun with them and crop out some of the noise to turn them into something more interesting. I did that by changing the aspect ratio to a more fun 21:9. I think this would be something fun to pursue a bit more with future rolls even for compositions I do like. These were initially colour film, but the light was either too strong, or not enough to really show the intended atmosphere. I shot these on the 28mm lens I recently got, and the focal length was definitely not a problem this time. In fact, I love that these are wide!

I really wanted to be closer to the birds in the initial photograph though, but they kept moving and I was desperate to finish the roll to take it to get developed. The light was also really intense that day and even with an aperture of f11 the light came out a bit blown out in the frame. I like how it looks cropped though, it does now look more like a frame from an old movie rather than a failed attempt at a colour photograph of some birds flying! The second image I don't mind the composition of, it was a group of artists meeting in a cafe. They were drawing and sharing their art with each other. The light was quite low here though, and the light was mostly a darker sort of orange and red tone from the cafe interior lighting. The image then came out a bit too focused on one colour which ruined some of that interest in the event itself. The colour primarily being the main point of interest.

This last one was also just me messing around. A bit of a fun portrait through a mirror that had a bit of a fish eye perspective. It's nothing special. But self-portraits are something I never take and I just felt like mixing it up for once. I realise I never have any pictures of myself to use for social media, websites, or anything really. So I may as well start trying to take some here and there! The film stock was a slower one, Colorplus 200. I think I'm finally done with that stock for now though, I want to experiment with some others. More colour stocks, maybe Gold, Cinestill, and maybe even some slide film if I become a millionaire out of nowhere.

I don't know why but I always find those kinds of selfies hilarious, as well as the photos of photographers taking photos (even better if the photographers are taking photos of each other taking photos of each other XD).
