Admiring the golden light, and struggling in the negative temperatures

Timeline 1_01_00_21_20.jpg

The snow continues to disappear around the city as the sun comes out. Though temperatures remain incredibly low. Around -10 in the daytime, to which it feels quite brutal trying to go anywhere and do anything. I have a few clothes to prepare for such temperatures but it's still very easy to get cold if you're out there as long as I tend to be. Constantly roaming the streets, never really going inside any places. Just constant exposure to the unforgiving. But I don't really know what else to do, I'm bored at home, I'm always bored at home. I'm always wanting to be out there and finding something new or photographing something. The feeling of wasted life if I remain within the same four walls doing nothing but finding something to do as justification for it. I think the only times I do feel content with being home is after shooting something, where I have something to go through and see what I like and don't that I've captured.

Yesterday was a long walk from home into the city centre. I initially had no intentions of going so far, thinking I'd just go to a new park I've found nearby that I've taken some appreciation for. Where it's isolated, Soviet and a bit old, but full of trees and tranquility. There aren't many like that here, sure there are a few courtyards and their gardens, of which is this one of them, but few that reach such isolation and peace to the point of feeling like you are actually in the natural world again, where the roaring of roads are lesser heard, and the concrete towers of the Soviet Union's former industrial might don't obscure the skies around. Usually parks here tend to lack trees, tend to be very busy, or just too close to those aforementioned roads. The ice continues to be a problem, where there aren't many safe places to walk around. Even in the city centre. I walked around there for a little bit and found it to be a more stressful venture than anything else. Also noticing how many people intentionally ran off into shops, cafes and restaurants. Even beneath the street in underground shopping centres for warmth.

The light has been absolutely beautiful though, there's a golden look to everything around throughout much of the day, which is nice given the photography and film potential before sunset. Where during winter it often feels like there's not enough daylight hours in the day to capture everything or do everything you want before the darkness takes over. I do think this is one of my more productive winters, given how much I've managed to shoot and pursue. I think it gave me a good start going into the new year, and I'm not usually one to make those new year's resolutions and such. But I do like this pacing and aim to maintain the momentum. Constantly motivated, constantly wanting to create and find any means to do so. Really pushing myself out there and making my name more known.

While I do love the wintery feeling lately, I'm really looking forward to the warmth returning a little. To at least make it easier and more comfortable to roam around. The snow is nice, the cold temperature not so much. Though I am definitely not asking for that strong summer heat to return so quickly...

The cold often blocks the desire to leave the house, or at least it happens to many people, or they take refuge in cafes or public places, but it is true that the light that we see in your photographs is wonderful, a special light like magic and gold that seems to touch everything but gently and the reflection that it causes with the snow is beautiful.

I am very happy that it is a productive winter, it is to see beauty at every step one takes and your pictures are very beautiful especially the one of the trees with the snow. There are few people in the streets but you knew how to take advantage of the moment and you had the perspective to see that light. Hugs!

Interesting photo shoot. I like how you capture all the sides and faces of the city. Keep up the good work!

Thank you. I really want to get back into roaming the more remote parts of the streets again, where all the history remains. But the temperatures are just too low at the moment. -6 in the daytime!

Yeah, cold can be a huge impediment indeed. Maybe when it gets a bit warmer.

I liked the third photo. It reminded me of my 80s.

It's a pretty big street in Yerevan, right behind the Cascade. Looked beautiful under the light and snow with the trees
