Learn the letters

Hello everyone, for those who don't know I teach 4 and 5 year olds. They are learning the letters. My 24 students already know how to write their names and every day I write the date on the board for them to copy but they still have some difficulty. When I put an activity for them to do, they already know that the first thing they have to do is put the name

How to teach the alphabet?
Learning to read and write is a long process, which happens in stages. An important step is to read to children and help them become interested in books. At first, when they are babies, they have no ability to understand that that object is a book and is meant to be read. But little by little they understand that on the pages of the book there are figures and "writings" that mean something.

From the moment curiosity about the letters arises, it is a sign that it is possible to propose games that involve two characteristics: the recognition of the letters and the ability to reproduce each one of them.

The age at which this interest arises varies from child to child. But in general, from the age of 4, it is possible to start teaching the alphabet in a fun way. Bearing in mind that the objective is not to speed up writing, but to encourage the child to be interested and become familiar with the subject.

No accelerating learning!
Nowadays it is common to find mothers and fathers who are so concerned about ensuring the best future for their children that they believe that the sooner they start to read and write the better. So we know it's not supposed to be like that. Learning involves several dimensions beyond cognitive skills.

And that's why it's super important to consider the integral development of children. Social, emotional and motor development need to go hand in hand with cognitive skills. We must neither accelerate this process nor place too much emphasis on performance.

But this does not mean that the child should not receive stimuli. They are the ones who will transform the potential that every child has to learn into concrete results. These stimuli need to happen in a meaningful way in the form of games that will make children have fun and learn at the same time

I hope you enjoyed it, see you soon friends 😀

I love how they can relate letters to colors but I found that the exercise itself was not explained in the post, how it works, what intention does it has?

They are learning the letters and the little ones are still working on their fine motor skills, hence this work. I made the letters inside gloves because we are also working with the season we are in (winter) thank you so much for your comment ☺️
