A day of artistic journaling and book workshop [Eng/Esp]

They talked to us about art, how these blogs help us in many aspects of the creative process, and showed us different examples. Andreína (who gave the workshop talk) even shared her own artistic blog with us, where we could see the different aspects that inspired her to create different works, some of which were not quite finished but were very advanced, which was quite striking for the audience.

After explaining and showing us what she meant, the next step was for each of us to start making our own artistic logbook, so my friend Kat (and the rest of the participants) took out the materials to get started. It can be done in different ways and with very simple materials, although I won't lie to you, but at this point I tuned out and started looking around, because as I mentioned at the beginning, there were many interesting books, and that was why I had come.

Nos hablaron sobre el arte, el cómo estas bitácoras nos ayudan en el proceso de muchos aspectos para la creación y nos enseñaron distintos ejemplos, incluso Andreína (quien daba la charla del taller) nos compartió su propia bitácora artística, donde pudimos observar los diferentes aspectos que la impulsaron a crear diferentes de sus obras, algunas no concretadas del todo, pero sí muy avanzadas y esto de cara al público es bastante llamativo.

Luego de explicar y mostrarnos a qué se refería, lo próximo era que cada uno empezara a hacer su propia bitácora artística, por lo que mi amiga Kat (y el resto de participantes) sacaron los materiales para empezar. Se realiza de distintas maneras y con materiales muy sencillos, aunque no les mentiré, pero en esta parte me desconecté y empecé a fijarme en el entorno, porque como bien mencioné al principio, había muchos libros interesantes y para esto era que yo había asistido.

While looking through the books, I came across many interesting things: some poetry books with beautiful poems, others with very striking designs, whether because of their colors, their content, or the illustrations they contained. Other books were photography books, which undoubtedly caught my attention the most, since, for those who don't know, I am a photographer, so I enjoy looking at other people's photographs, many of them about nature and others of portraits where you could undoubtedly appreciate many expressions and emotions of the people present.

While many were busy working on their art journals, I was given permission to look at the large number of books (and objects) that were there. Obviously, I did so with the utmost respect, without making any noise or anything like that, so I can say that we all enjoyed attending the workshop in different ways.

Mientras veía los libros me encontré con muchas cosas interesantes: algunos libros de poesía con poemas muy hermosos, otros con un diseño muy llamativo, ya fuese por sus colores, su contenido o las figuras que contenía. Otros libros eran de fotografía, lo que sin duda más llamó mi atención, ya que para quienes no saben, soy fotógrafo, entonces disfruto de ver las fotografías de otras personas, muchas sobre naturaleza y otras de retratos donde sin duda se apreciaban muchas expresiones y emociones de las personas presentes.

Mientras muchos se dedicaban a hacer sus bitácoras artísticas, yo tenía permiso de ver la gran cantidad de libros (y objetos) que se encontraban allí, evidentemente lo hice con todo el respeto sin hacer ruido ni nada por el estilo, por lo que puedo decir que todos disfrutamos de diferentes maneras el haber asistido al taller.

At one point, they served us coffee. I must say that I am not a big coffee lover and rarely drink it, but on this occasion it seemed appropriate, so I took the time to drink it carefully, because obviously I didn't want to stain any books or anything like that. Something I didn't mention (but which can surely be seen in the photographs) is that my friend Kat brought her niece, who was also quite happy making her own logbook.

En un momento nos dieron café. Debo decir que yo no soy muy amante del café y son pocas las ocasiones en que lo tomo, pero en esta ocasión me parecía oportuno, por lo que me tomé el tiempo de beberlo con cuidado, porque evidentemente no quería manchar ningún libro ni nada por el estilo. Algo que no mencioné (pero que seguro se aprecia en las fotografías) es que mi amiga Kat se llevó a su sobrina, quien estaba bastante contenta también haciendo su propia bitácora.
