The Freedom Trail at August Kranti Maidan
This place is of historic importance. It's a place where some of the important events during the freedom fighting of India took place. In this day it's a big park area on the 2 sides with a centre walking path which connects 2 sides of the roads.
On the 8th of August at this site Mahatma Gandhi started the "Quit India movement" against the British rule in India then. Mahatma Gandhi as everyone knows was a Indian Freedom Fighter and he followed the path of Non-violence all through out his fight for India's freedom. Today world wide he is knows for this and people respect him. It was a Do or Die rally, by this time the whole of the nation was in rage and wanted Britishers to quit India permanently. On the 8th of August 1942 a mass movement happened at this site and from there on the movement spread all through out India like fire. Before this also there were many such events that had taken place, but this one was huge in number.
This Quit India mass movement played a big role in India getting it's Independence from the Britishers. There was a strong message in a non-violent manner and in the most peaceful way which was under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, who we fondly call Father of the Nation. People like him are not born anymore.
This park is now a recreational park with different sections for children play area, a ground for sports, walking trails and sit down areas. Lately the heritage conservation work was carried out to restore the true identity and importance of this place.
The centre line marks the trail which was the path of the Quit India Movement.
August is the name of the month in which this movement started, Kranti the hindi word means revolution and Maidan means a ground.
The different sections of the park now
There are school children who have come for picnic.

Turning that place to a part actually makes sense
It will help people to remember those mass movements in India back then
The children who come here to play, it's good for them to experience this part of our history
Mahatma Gandhi - yeah, even here so far from India we know him!
Yes, he is famous worldwide
Knowing that the park has rich history that stood for Indian will even interest people to visit it.
In general this place is very common and not much of a tourist attraction. It looks like a normal park only
This is a very beautiful and love park which also has some of our memories. Remembering those days brings tears to our eyes. We have made a lot of sacrifices for our freedom.
True, a lot of our brave soldiers gave away their life fighting for independence and this place gives them a tribute for all their sacrifices.
