🙌🏽🌻Sublime Sunday🙌🏽💖 by @c0ff33a - The Clothing section of the Topkapi Palace

Topkapi Palace was built in the 15th century under the leadership of Sultan Mehmed II of the Ottoman empire and after that it was home to all the Ottoman kings or Sultans as they would call in that time for 4 centuries. In 1922 with the end of the Ottoman monarchy the Palace was converted in to a museum. Since then there has been lot of restoration work and the efforts have been made to maintain the Palace in it's full glory. Some parts of the Palace when we see it is unbelievable how luxury and finesse was so well thought off in those days.

The Palace museum has been very well organized with different sections to look at to get a good glimpse of the history. There is an entrance ticket of 50 Euros p.p.. At the time of buying the ticket I felt the price was too high and was contemplating if it was worth to visit or not, but then we went ahead. Going through the Palace I felt that yes the price was worth it. All that was at display from the olden times was worth watching and also gave a good idea of the lifestyle of the Sultans of those days.

The very first section that we visited was the Clothing. It displayed clothes of different kings of the 4 centuries and also of different ranks in the Palace. One thing that amused me the most is the size of the clothes. You all must be wondering what is there to see in clothes, but honestly it was something very different that I saw. And from the look of it I feel that these people were not at all health conscious....haha. The clothes were extra large, probably 4 to 5 of me will fit in some of them.

That's the entrance to the Palace

The security guards at the entrance show the culture of Turkey, they are dressed in their traditional wear.

That's another side of the palace. It's a huge one with too many small buildings surrounding it.

This was the first room as we entered. It looks like a welcome area.

Here they show how the chief of the Palace would get dressed.

That's a royal coat, for this one the body part is very big whereas the sleeves are narrow in comparison. The coat has a beautiful brocade border. At the first look I am thinking, is this for real, were the people so huge or did they wear very loose clothes.

Another coat finely woven in gold threat. These people surely knew how to flaunt luxury.

In this one, the pants have a very typical fashion, again the size here is for someone who would weight 200 kgs or more may be and event the coat.

I am not sure in picture how much one can make out, but all of these are super huge costumes.

A ladies dress made of gold threads.

Even the inners were made with the finest material and gold threads. Here you can get some idea of the size
IMG-20250425-WA0020.jpg

This one looks royal and I guess the king who must be wearing must be also in good shape

This is their military dress

Another court which gives a fair idea of their size

These are all children clothes made in fine silk and gold.

A very beautiful broach made of diamonds and other precious stones.

When you look at these things you really feel amazed with the way these royal people lived. They spent so much on their luxuries that it's beyond imagination in today's time. In a way thank god the monarchies have ended because I feel they were hoarding so much and they wasted the resources at maximum level beyond one's imagination.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸
