Lime and Lemony streets of Sorrento

avatar

Sorrento is a very quaint town located in the southern part of Italy and very close to Naples. It is an hour drive from Naples. We visited this small town for a day as I had heard very good things about the place and indeed it is a very charming and attractive time. This place has a touch of yellow. It is famous for it's abundance of lemons and hence everywhere in the streets you see variety of lemon products sold. Not only that even the other souvenirs are mostly yellow in color. It reminded me of Mykonos where the theme was white and blue, and this place was all yellow and white and some blues also.

I really loved this place. To be honest there was no place in Italy which disappointed me, I loved the whole place. But, if someone would ask me, do I wish to settle here, then my answer would be No. It is too expensive. The cost of living would get very high. The transport and food was tearing up the pockets. For a one time holiday it is good, but I would not want to stay in such a place which rips up your pocket.

That's the streets of Sorrento. You will see how yellow is the highlight.

Some baby dresses, again mostly yellow with lemon designs. They looked cute, I do not have any small baby in my family else I would have taken one :-)

There are all different types of souvenirs like magnets, soaps, bells, plates, different types of drinks....all in yellow. The streets look very bright because of the color. Compared to the other tourist spots in Italy this place was comparatively a little cheaper. Most of the souvenirs we could get in 3 to 5 euros. I wanted to pick up quite a few to gift.

The buildings and villas were most of them in shades of yellow.

The place was filled with tourist.

Besides the lemony things, there were some other eye candys also in the streets, like this florist, and some art works.

There were quite a few open seating restaurants all across on the streets. After spending a good amount of time exploring the streets we settled in for a meal in one of those

I loved this place, it had very good vibes. This is the city center, it is a small town with some most gorgeous views which I will share in another post.

Every town and city in Italy had a Clock Tower, some had access to the top, some did not.

That's a wonderful view from the top and you will see that how this town is set on a hilly region.

The mood of the day was black for me. If I had known that this was a yellow town, I would have worn something yellow...hehehe

This place reminded me of the song....I wonder how, I wonder why
yesterday you told me about the blue, blue sky, and all that I can see, is just a yellow lemon tree. I'm turning my head up and down
I'm turning, turning, turning, turning, turning around, and all that I can see Is just another lemon tree..... :-)...hehehe. Hope you all enjoyed touring the streets of Sorrento

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

I have never visited there but the style of the streets and buildings do remind me of a few places I visited in Southern Italy

Have a great weekend

Ya, these places look quite similar except for some color variations. This place also reminded me of Mykonos, with the difference being the colors of blue and white there.

Hi @nainaztengra! Thank you for posting on the #MarketFriday challenge! It is always fun to see another person/place in the world. I love Sorrento! I lived outside of Aviano for a short while and the Positano/Amalfi Coast and Sorrento were amazing places to visit! The streets are filled with beauty and the roads leading to the water are gorgeous!

I still miss the food! Everything is expensive there, but, the trip is a must. It wasn't too bad living there as you learn where to shop and not to. Your post was beautiful. Thank you. I left the guidelines for you at the bottom. I apologize for such a late reply, I have been out of town watching the wild horse round-up and did not have regular wifi available at my camp. I am going through all the posts and reading them, that is the best part of the week, and you have spent much time and effort putting your post together. I never have to wonder about how things are going in your part of the world. Seems like I get to hear weekly about the happenings. How fun for me and all the other people who stop by to give it a read. As an aside, I have been really happy with how well the #MarketFriday participants are stopping by others' posts to give them some support and leaving comments. It is the way to share, and the way to make everyone feel like their contribution means something... you know it does! Thank you so much for participating in the challenge!!

Thank you for participating in #MarketFriday! I appreciate the time and effort that goes into putting a post together for the challenge. It is with great pleasure that I read through and realize how much we have all tried to include things in our world that may be unique to the area. I have learned so much about the different cultures of the world, especially the small things that go unnoticed except by those looking for them. Life is interesting, wherever you are, whatever you are doing. I hope the week has found you healthy and happy, as we all look to prosper in our way of life.
