A day excursion - Trekking and Temple Visit - Part 1

My home in the hills has many surrounding sites which are worth a visit. There is a famous temple called Ekveera Temple which I can see on the hill from my home. It looks far but then since the time I have this place, it has been my wish to visit the Temple. One of my neighbors who is a local of the place told me that we could go walking here. At first, I could not believe her because it really very far, but then she told me that by road it is far but if we trek up, we can reach fast. I was instantly ready for this idea.

I wanted to leave early morning but then she had her house chores to do so by the time we left it was almost 10 and sun was over the head. It is raining now so it's not very hot and on and off it gets cloudy so with that it was comfortable with a late start also. Thankfully it was not raining on this day and that made it easy. If it would be then we would had to cancel the plan as climbing is risky, there is too much moss and it gets slippery.

When I met her, I could not believe she was wearing her normal slippers and I was worried for her as to how she would climb, but then she told me not to worry, she is used to it and travels up often in her slippers. We started our journey, the first half an hour walk was straight with a little jump over the streams, and that was comfortable. The funny part was she was marching ahead and I had to really be fast to keep up with her pace. I was amazed how she was moving so swiftly.

The first one-hour flat land that we walked on, majority of it is her family land where they grow rice. If I would have this kind of land, I guess I would boast around, but she is such a simple and humble lady and so is her family. They never find any job small, with all of this also they do caretakers job of many villas in my society.

The process has started

We have walked quite a distance and getting near to the destination

I walked comfortably till here, now the real challenge was starting that was to start climbing up. Let me continue the rest of the journey tomorrow.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

Am very sure the climbing was a stressful one.

Some of these locals that look humble are very rich just that they don't show it and because they live in a small village people look at some of them and think they are poor

These people never show off or display their wealth in wrong ways. I really admire their humility

Wise suggestion by your neighbor. By trekking, you will actually live that moment and make close affair with the path alongside.

My guide who is marching forward and I am trying to keep up with her pace, even with my sport shoes I am not up to her speed.

Familiar with the route and must have developed resilience being a local.

Owning vast rice fields yet working as caretakers speaks volumes about humility.

Thanks for making a virtual tour of your experience.

Absolutely their humility is to be admired. My caretaker also has 4 acres of land but still he wants to work and never shows any attitude.

Wow, that's great. That's a true demonstration of "work is worship"....there is no such thing as a menial job.

True, it gets really slippery climbing in the rainy times, I avoid a thing like that. A very big rice farm, asset like this worth a lot of money, and it's not even advisable to sell land, there are many stunning photos in your post.

That's where so many farmers these days are selling off their land to builders :-(

It's really hot over here in plains, I think you might be enjoying the amazing weather in the mountains. Trekking seems to be a lot of fun but it's really hard as well.
Have a happy tour.

Yes, I am enjoying it but it's going to be just for 3 more days and then I return back to Oman where it is 45 degrees :-(
