First & worst harvesting of corn || August garden journal
Hello friends !
About 20 days ago I shared that my corn plants are in silking process. And after so much wait yesterday i plough my first corn … for which I was so excited.
This is my first experience of growing corn and all were new for me , I really enjoyed the whole process, all stages of growing corn and I captured lots of pictures .
Here you can see the whole journey after silking process, how corn gets grow and bigger , how layer comes one by one .
When the top of the corn silk is totally brown I decide to pick it . I peel of little corn cob from the top and check the kernels, i do this one week before , i saw that there were little kernels so i wait for one more week , but after a week , it was same so I decide to plough it . Because i saw the kernals are start to extra ripe .
After pick the corn , I immediately start to peel the whole corn and what i saw , there were little kernals and they were also not good .
That time i was shoked and just want to cry , because i was eagerly waiting to enjoy it to taste it. But we can’t do anything.
Next day i plough 3 more corns and one was totally empty and 2 were just ok ok .
I feel sad but i searched about it, what happened wrong . Is seeds were not good or they plants don’t get enough sunlight, water or fertiliser. I think i do watering properly. It may be in the rainy season plants don’t get enough sunlight or may be lack of nutrients.
Next time i also grow the corn , I’ll fertilise it properly and hope I’ll get yummiest corns with full of kernels.
I also learnt one lesson , when i saw all corns gets bigger i was 100% sure that it will become perfectly. But when i saw empty corns i relised we should never too happy before getting complete success.
Still i am grateful for that beautiful time , I remembered how many times I jumped while seeing corn growing. Me and my son spent quality time while caring these plants 😀.
But my okra , apple gourd is doing well , I have also doubt on the beans which about I’ll share in my next post .
If you have any suggestion , share with me , it will be helpful for next time 😀.
Iam just seeing this corn harvest for the first time. Hope you get a better harvest next time. May be people who are familiar with this farming can help.
I hope so … thank you so much 😊

When there are no kernels on a corn cob, in our country it is a sign that there was not enough water at the time of the development of the cob itself.
Although it can also be a sign of some other things, it also depends on the soil itself. I do not know your climate so I cannot give a detailed answer.
Don't give up, next year will be better
The drought this year destroyed my corn crop, the question is will I have at least one ear of corn.
But even a single grain of corn produced by one's own hand is sweeter than any purchased one.
That’s right … single corn sweetener more than anything … I think reason is soil and I’ll be careful for next time … thank you so much
Thank you so much for the support @qurator team and @ewkaw 😀🙏
I can really relate. Sometimes corn turns out like that, especially if it lacks of fertilizer. But it’s still a blessing.
Yeah ! May be … but yeah it’s blessings
Wowwwww, te felicito amiga, de verdad que se nota tu amor por la siembra, sigue asi, saludos💚
