As part of my daily walking routine, I decided for a change of scenery yesterday and headed up to the medieval castle Frankenstein that was made famous by the Frankenstein stories. I have been here a few times in the past for family meetups with friends and for work dos.
This is because there is a pretty fancy restaurant there doing some very good quality food. As well as a restaurant, you can walk around the grounds and up and around the complete castle including the tower which gives a great view over the surrounding area. I have also been here before when there has been medieval music being played and the staff get into the spirit of things.
The opening times of the castle are sun up and sun down, but as it was off-peak when I arrived, the castle was closed to visitors and just the staff were leaving so I couldn't go inside this time. However, it was still a great time to visit because it was not so busy and there are many paths that you can take for a mountain forest walk.
After walking to the castle and getting some views from the viewing platform, I headed along the mountain paths southward and enjoyed some time walking in the forest. There is a forest club and they also take care of the forest and provide activities for visitors to enjoy. One such activity was a barefoot path with different materials that you can walk along in your bare feet. Although the weather was warm, I didn't fancy it today.
Another item I discovered was a rock where you put your head in it and take a deep breath and then it should re-calibrate your whole body. I didn't give that a try this time either. lol.
It was lovely a calm in the forest for this evening and there were a few hikers around but not many. Mostly there were quite a few mountain bikers as this is a popular area for mountain biking. The great thing about this walk was that it was more demanding than just walking around my town due to the hill and terrain. I came across many muddy paths that I needed to navigate!
After a while it started to get darker so I headed back. It was a nice long walk and great to enjoy a walk in the forest with the background of Castle Frankenstein.

Thanks, the castle and tower is well maintained, although it can be scary climbing the tower if you are scared of heights.
Yeah, that's the downside of it.. but for someone like me that love to tour and explore new things, it will be great fun... Hope you enjoyed yourself?

I am not sure if there was a mueseum or more a tourist type shop. But there are some medieval torture devices. You can put your head in a vice etc! 😅

You walked all the way from your house? that's like 1 hour just commuting. Is it not hot there because if you did that in Malaysia you'd be sweating easily just being outside

Wow that's cool that you can just walk around a medievel castle. We don't have anything that old here. Looks like a nice walk on the trails.
It is the land of castles here! I still want to go to the Neuschwannstein at some point. The trails are great but highly regulated as you can imagine!

That kind of place seems a very good place to take a walk specially in the afternoon times. But at the time of night, it could be horrible. Would you dare visit that forest at night time?

Hab's heimlich mit einer Freundin angesehen während unsere Eltern aus waren... Und danach konnten wir nicht schlafen. LOL.. aber ja auch mit Eltern nicht darüber reden.
Fazit: Sowohl die alte gute Freundin als auch ich mögen keine Horror Geschichten. Bis heute nicht!
