Autumn Memories

Some of the things that I like about autumn are that it is not so hot like in the summer months, but not so cold like in winter. I also like other signs from nature such as the changing color of the trees and plants.

Here the trees are already bright yellow but not quite as colorful as when you are driving through the deep forest.

I remember collecting leaves as a child and we would use them as a stencil to draw around them. Another activity I remember spending hours doing was collecting conkers. Sometimes they would fall on their own, but we would enjoy spending hours throwing things up the tree to "encourage" them to come down.

The leaves gather up in piles everywhere which brings me to the next thing that I think about with autumn. Usually, we get strong autumn winds.
A favorite song that my daughter loved from the autumn time that I remember is this one which is also a great short animation.

So far this year, we haven't had too much wind. Living inland we don't get those strong coastal winds that I have been used to growing up. Although if it is windy AND raining, then this was often not so much fun as you can't use your umbrella in the wind and rain.

The other great thing about autumn is the food. If you have some autumny weather, you can warm yourself up with some hot soup.

Here is one of my favorites, a vegetable noodle soup that my wife made. Unlike the winter soups that are thick, warm, and filling. The soups in autumn are warm and light to eat still.
