Mobile Photo Walk - Hills

Easter is a time I spend with my family. It's usually when I get a different perspective on life. Time in the village feels slower. Life seems boring, yet so much happens. The village says, "someone died," "someone got cancer," "this person got married." News spreads by word of mouth, unlike in the city, where people often don't care about their neighbors. In cities, individualism and lack of real communities mean we often don't know our sources of information; it's just what we hear on TV or the internet.

In contrast, village life feels like a never-ending soap opera. It has continuity, and many villagers can relate to what's happening, knowing the person, seeing them in church, or having gone to school with them. Sometimes, it's generations of knowing people. Lately, this aspect of society has fascinated me, and I love observing it from a sociological point of view. I don't have any conclusions yet, but I can say that village life has more happening than city life. This is because everyone somehow gets involved. There's less of the attitude "I don't care" or "it's not my business."

Maybe this doesn't apply to all villages or smaller towns, but the one I observe sometimes gives me the vibe of Breaking the Waves by Lars von Trier. So, if you ever feel like writing a story, go to the village. I can guarantee you'll get more than from Netflix, Fox News, and the Amazon bookstore combined.

I share this text with few photographers that I took while went for little walk, all of them been taken with mobile phone and edited in Lightroom.
