This is my post for #freewriters Wednesday prompt hit the trail hosted by @mariannewest

Two weeks ago my husband had a good plan, he said that we should go by our daughter's house and get her kayaks. Which we did. His plan was, the next time we had a day off from fishing we could paddle them across the creek and go out on the preserve.

I told him that sounds like fun but we both own boats and we could take one of our boats and won't have to paddle. He said that he does not want to hit the trail where everyone else goes, he wants to explore new territory.

Little did he know that on our next day off from fishing, there would be a hurricane approaching us. Today we drove down river road to see how the river was looking.

This is where Judah's Fishhouse used to be, the dock was almost under water and high tide is not for 2 more hours.

This dock is underwater in places.

This one is just south of the last picture.

This one is underwater and it looked as if the offshore end is gone, but maybe I just couldn't see it.

Someone left the fishing pole on the picnic table, I would be surprised if either of them were there in the morning. All of the docks that have water over them now, will not have any boards left by morning, all that will be left are the pilings.

If I was to try and put my boat in the water at the boat ramp, I would sink, the picture does not do the waves justice. Some waves were surfing size.

All of this and it is only blowing 50 at the inlet. It is not supposed to make land until 2 or 3am. Right now they still have it coming in 40 miles south of me.

All photos are mine

I will worry when the wind comes from the south, we have several big trees that could fall on our home. But until then, we are safe. Thank you for the prayers, they work. If I am not on here tomorrow, it means we lost power.

thank you, but I grew up here and have been through many of them. I do not like them but, it is what it is.

Prayers for safety for you all. Ben, my son, went through Ian in Ft. Myers. These storms are so brutal.

even though the eye went over us, it was not that bad. I have been through a lot worse. Prayers work, thank you.

I'm glad it passed over and thankful. We have snow now. I wish that missed us all winter! Take care
