Monomad : I Hope You Dont Mind Some Black And White Beginners Shots

Black and white has the potential to make any photographer a better photographer.

Rob Sheppard

One thing I've learned so far in my little time spent on this rocky earth is that nothing can ever remain the same.

We all strive to be better, modest, and bolder to improve our state of well-being, both physical and mental, so we don't have to worry about not growing, evolving, changing and improving our lives.

We get better physically with activities and mentally with whatever concepts we feed the mind.

Not only that, but we all wish to be better in some activities too and also be open-minded to grasp some complex concepts. But more often we only get to wish for a better way of doing things without really doing them. I.e., putting our feet and minds to work.

Photography is one of those things that I haven't tried, but I wish I could.

I wish I can be better at taking photos. Maybe that will happen when I have a nice camera or nice sneakers to hike around with and take better pictures.

But wait, what if I never get a good camera to take great pictures or be able to afford a new balance of sneakers?

We have experts and pros who are better and bolder with how they go out to explore the world while taking shots of each moment.

It's so magical to see the world from a different lens.

Mine might be SMH blurry, but I think it shouldn't cripple my feet or weaken my mind enough that I would stay in the wishing zone forever.

Waiting and wishing…

The point here is that I might never get to hold one of those magnificent cameras with great lenses that would make an angry child look like it's smiling…

It was the reverse for me when I started drawing. I had a little fire in me to try something creative, and I decided to draw something, but then I was supposed to come out with a child's smiling face.

But that wasn't the case, the outcome of the drawing made the child’s smiling face turn into an angry one (face) that scared me enough to never take up the pencil to draw again.

Maybe I will get back into drawing later, IDK, but the fire in me to draw isn't burning anymore. It was quenched the minute the smiling baby face turned to an angry baby face.

Be sure to refer me to your friends, I can make their smiling faces mean
I bet I would never get a job offer if I were an artist

I hope I do.

Now, back to the matter.

Today is about taking pictures and not about drawing because I drew that smiling baby face years ago and things have changed a lot over the years, so it's not like I'll be drawing anyone anytime soon.

I have seen great pictures taken by other users in this community, and I feel the same little fire burning in me to give photography a try.

Will the pictures come out good, or will I make the smiling face of a child, an angry one again?

I thought about that while writing, which was done on Monday, but I just don't have it inside me to publish.

Then I saw this quote on the black and white community page after I was done checking some hotshots in the photography community.

This has become one of the main communities I like to visit, either to see beautiful posts and pictures that can ignite my creative fire and keep it burning.

The fire is now burning again, and I'm almost near to submitting something to the black and white community.

You may ask why I choose black and white photography.

It's just for one main reason, I don't want the outcome of my pictures to be like that angry drawing that happens to push me into the rabbit hole of never finding a way out to draw anything again.

So, this time, I would rather not start with something smiling or angry but something simple.

Black and white are simple ways to take great pictures without having enhanced and colourful lenses to alter the outcome of the image.

I don't need to alter anything here, so I'll make it simple, black, and white because that's the first step to making any photographer a better one.

You don't have to worry about the smiling face or angry face when it's in black and white because they will always speak for themselves in ways we have not yet seen or imagined before.

I'll tell you why I never thought these pictures below were worth sharing.

However, now that it's all black and white, it ignites a new flame inside of me that's greater than before.

The flame of hope that I can take great pictures, even if I don't take great shots with finer lenses.

What you have to do is make all the colours in the image mono, and you are good to go.

So, here you have it.

I'll show you the stories behind the photos and how I got to come across a fly and was able to spot him or her hidden within one of my simple black-and-white shots.

Anyway, enough of the talk and intro. I will share with you a few of the pictures I took while on a little walk around the areas in my community.

I hope you enjoyed reading and watching them below.

The journey started here...

This was the first picture that caught my eye after I set out to head out for a quick stroll to see if I'll find something worth capturing.

It's an uncompleted building. What attracts me more to these two buildings is how I have passed here a few times but didn't realize that both buildings have the same structure.

After that, I decided to take a few steps further and see what else is worth capturing or exciting. I moved towards the left one to find out for myself.

I saw the steps and thoughts to myself “What are you doing man” what if you fall off these stairs?

Weird to even think about that right?
That's my mind trying to criticize me to back down from taking the first step forward. *I'm sure many can relate to that as we all do have that inner voice trying to scare us whenever we feel fear.

I didn't think about it too much but I know I won't be taking long in there so I just want to have a sneak peek of what the view up there might look like.

Note - This isn't what I planned to do but im in for putting my feet to work and here to take some shots.

I got to the top flat and saw a nice view of nature beside it and I took the picture which isn't that great in coloured form but the mono edit just looks right to me.

I don't want to stay too long in the building because you don't know what wild bear may be lurking around...

Sorry, I meant my peers, who might be trying to reach me because we are about to head out to do some physical activity which is to play football and table tennis.

Btw in the above image, I bet you were unable to catch any fly around. But looking closely I saw the fly and took a close shot in zoomed mode so it won't fly away.

I guess im here to catch flies huh?

Or maybe goats...lol

Now im back to the ground and making my way to the playing field which I would share with you in my next post.

I think this one is getting too long and I shouldn't bore you with too many of my beginner's hot shots and fly-goated images. Lol

Thanks for visiting my blog and hope to see you next time

All images were taken with my iphone6splus
