This is the warm and charming Bolívar Square in Santo Domingo

I want to start the year on my blog by showing you pictures of a beautiful village located on the road leading to the city of Mérida. On this route, we find the town of Santo Domingo, a place that preserves much of its old-world charm and is a perfect example of what towns in the Venezuelan Andes look like. This time, we will focus on Plaza Bolívar in Santo Domingo. As I mentioned earlier, in Venezuela, every town has a plaza named after Simón Bolívar, the hero of Venezuelan independence and liberation from colonial rule.
This square is quite simple, but that very simplicity makes the setting feel warmer. As you can see, the mountains are an integral part of the landscape, which undoubtedly conveys a sense of tranquility and peace. Around the square, you can appreciate the colonial architecture, which they have clearly tried to preserve. The large village church also stands out, located—as is customary in the country—right in front of Plaza Bolívar.

As I walked around, I tried to take the best photos possible to capture the beauty of this place as accurately as possible. Every angle and every photograph was a unique experience; I couldn't help but be amazed by how beautiful the mountains looked in the background, partially covered by mist and clouds. I should mention that this site is located at a high altitude above sea level, so it enjoys an excellent climate: it is quite cool and ideal for walking through the streets without feeling hot.

Finally, I couldn't leave without showing you the Church of Santo Domingo in detail. Although it is not very large, it is big enough to accommodate the parishioners of this small town. Inside, wood is a fundamental element which, together with its beautiful stained glass windows, creates a magnificent contrast with the sunlight. Everything is perfectly maintained and preserved, which visually adds a lot of warmth to the space.

I hope you enjoyed the experience I shared with you today. I will be keeping an eye on the community to see the images of other cities that you decide to share with us. Happy New Year, everyone!

What a beautiful place, where you can see something that is classic in many of the villages, not only in Venezuela but in many parts of Latin America, as I have also seen here in Spain. Both the colonial style and the characteristic of the village church facing the main square of the village. Warmth and simplicity that denote tranquillity and a very nice atmosphere to walk around.
As you mention, the mountains and the mist make the landscape special, even ideal for filming a movie for example. Thank you for showing them this space, this place in your country, so that many more can see it. I wish you a very happy new year 2026! Hug!

I've always loved this town, although I've never explored it completely except for the times I've passed through while traveling, but from what little I've seen it's simply spectacular.

It looks like a beautiful postcard with the mountains in the background. It's nice to go to a square and enjoy such a beautiful landscape, and that church is very beautiful inside, especially the altar 😍 It's quite creative; I've never seen one like it before. I love it! ❤️
Very beautifully written. The pictures give a good idea of the peaceful atmosphere of the place. I like the combination of the mountains and the plaza. Best wishes to you in the new year.
