Where the forest taught me to wait./ Monomad Challenge (Eng/Esp]

Hello friends,

These have been difficult days for traveling to the city due to public transportation issues, but with so much forest nearby, I can't help but focus my attention on nature photography. While the transportation issue is being resolved and the train to the city is running again, the forest will be my best ally. Today I present some birds that "kindly" posed for my camera.

And "kindly" is ironic, of course, because photographing these species is a real headache, considering how hyperactive they are.

If you've ever tried to photograph a hummingbird, you'll agree with me: it's not that difficult when they're resting, but when they're in flight, it's a different story. That's when things get complicated... and those are precisely the challenges I like best.

These warblers are a little quieter, so here I was able to take a breather before going after the next "victim."

But here we have a problem: these warblers, which are called black and white warblers, feed while searching for insects on tree trunks, which means they never stay still for a second.

And then the photographer sits down, stands up, crouches down again, loses his patience, starts to get desperate, and after 32 photos, finally gets one that's more or less worth it.

Here we enter the big leagues: they are quite small, but when they are feeding, they let you get close; otherwise, no way.

You might say, "Wow, this guy is such a masochist, he loves to put himself through the wringer taking pictures of these birds." But you know what? I love it 😊. The more difficult it is, the more passionate I am about it, and knowing that I'm going to share these images with the community is a huge pleasure.

Hola amigos,

Estos han sido días complejos para desplazarse hacia la ciudad por culpa del transporte público, pero teniendo tanto bosque cerca, no puedo dejar de centrar mi atención en la fotografía de naturaleza. Mientras se soluciona el tema del transporte y el tren hacia la ciudad vuelve a pasar, será el bosque mi mejor aliado. Hoy les presento algunas aves que, tan “gentilmente”, posaron para mi cámara.

Y lo de gentilmente es una ironía, por supuesto, porque retratar estas especies es todo un dolor de cabeza, teniendo en cuenta lo hiperactivas que son.

Si alguna vez han intentado fotografiar un zunzún, me darán la razón: hacerlo cuando descansan no es tan complicado, pero en pleno vuelo la cosa cambia. Ahí es donde todo se complica… y justamente esos son los retos que más me gustan.

Estas warblers son un poco más tranquilas, así que aquí pude tomar un respiro antes de ir tras la siguiente “víctima”.

Pero aquí sí tenemos un problema: estas warblers, que por cierto se llaman black and white, se alimentan mientras buscan insectos en el tronco de los árboles, lo que hace que no se estén quietas ni un segundo.

Y entonces el fotógrafo se sienta, se para, vuelve a agacharse, se le termina la paciencia, comienza a desesperarse y, después de 32 fotos, por fin sale una que más o menos vale la pena.

Aquí ya entramos en las grandes ligas: bien pequeñas, pero cuando están alimentándose te dejan acercarte; de lo contrario, ni modo.

Ustedes dirán: “alabao, qué masoquista este muchacho, cómo le gusta pasar trabajo haciendo fotos a estas aves”. Pero ¿saben qué? Me encanta 😊. Mientras más difícil, más me apasiona, y después saber que voy a compartir estas imágenes con la comunidad es un placer enorme.
