he sea is a faithful friend to everyone living in Havana, whether for fishing or simply the joy of sitting down to watch the sunset. Others see it as a parenthesis that separates them from their families; the fact is that, one way or another, it is deeply present in everyone's life.

l mar es amigo fiel de todos los que viven en La Habana, ya sea por la pesca o tan solo el disfrute de sentarse a ver el atardecer. Otros lo ven como un paréntesis que los separa de su familia; el caso es que de una forma u otra está bien presente en la vida de todos.

Sometimes, when there is no electricity and it is very hot, I just go to the seawall and sit there watching people fish. I remember that since I was a child, my father used to bring me to this place to watch the fishermen.
A veces, cuando no hay electricidad y hace mucho calor, tan solo voy al malecón y allí me siento a ver a las personas pescar. Recuerdo que desde niño mi papá me traía a este lugar a ver a los pescadores.

The vessels are very rudimentary but resistant.
Las embarcaciones son muy rudimentarias pero resistentes.

I was very surprised to learn that, as the bay is now cleaner of oil, there is a larger number of sharks; in fact, several have already been seen, from hammerheads to bull sharks.
Me causó mucha sorpresa saber que, producto de que está más limpia la bahía del petróleo, hay más cantidad de tiburones; de hecho, ya han visto varios, desde el tiburón martillo hasta el toro.

That's why underwater fishermen are now more cautious.
De ahí que ya los pescadores submarinos estén más precavidos.

And if it's about emotions and feelings, then sunrise is the right time; the light is beautiful and perfect for relaxing the mind. Ultimately, whatever the case may be, the sea will continue to be a faithful friend and confidant.
Y si de emociones y sentimientos se trata, entonces el amanecer es la hora indicada; la luz es preciosa y se presta mucho para relajar la mente. En definitiva, como quiera que sea, seguirá siendo el mar fiel amigo y confidente.

The sea is truly exciting, as you say, it relaxes the mind and even inspires, although it means many things, from work, ways of acquiring food, families far away on the other side. It may have a different meaning for everyone, but it is still the imposing sea. And the hours when the sun caresses it, at dawn and dusk, are the best, as that last photo shows. The reflections are spectacular.

I also found a great friend in the sea, a source of life and inspiration. Thank you very much for the great photos. Hugs!

Es verdaderamente apasionante el mar, como bien decis, relaja la mente y hasta inspira, aunque signifique muchas cosas, desde trabajo, formas de adquirir alimento, familias lejos al otro lado. Para todos puede tener un significado distinto pero sigue siendo el imponente mar. Y las horas en que el sol lo acaricia estando bajo como amanecer y atardecer son las mejores, esa última foto lo dice. Los reflejos son espectaculares.

También encontré un gran amigo en el mar, fuente de vida e inspiración. Muchas gracias por las geniales fotografías. Abrazo!
