The City Through the Lens and the Pedal. /Monomad Challenge [Eng/Esp]

Hello friends of #blackandwhite

Lately, getting around Havana has become quite an odyssey. Transportation is terrible, there are almost no buses, and taxis are sky-high, so I had no choice but to change my strategy: bike! 🚴‍♂️

The idea was to take advantage of the ride to take some photos from the bike. I didn't take my big camera because it weighs a ton and I didn't want to tempt fate... I could already see myself tangled up with the equipment in the middle of the avenue. So I used my phone, which was more practical for the moment.

I left from the University of Havana, passed through Nuevo Vedado, continued along Playa, and arrived at Santa Fe. In total, it was about 25 km. 💪

As I pedaled, something I had never noticed before caught my attention: all those trees on the hill, leaning in the same direction. Things you only see when you're not in a hurry.

I took the photos as I went along, some from my bike and others at traffic lights. I wanted to give the tour a different, more spontaneous feel.

I had wanted to stop and photograph the entrance to the tunnel that goes under the Almendares River for a while, but since I always took a taxi, I couldn't. This time I got my wish.

And at the border between Jaimanitas and Santa Fe, I finished the tour, tired but happy. These bike rides are here to stay.

Hola amigos de #blackandwhite

Últimamente moverse por La Habana se ha vuelto toda una odisea. El transporte está fatal, casi no hay ómnibus y los taxis andan por las nubes, así que no me quedó otra que cambiar de estrategia: ¡bici! 🚴‍♂️

La idea era aprovechar el recorrido para ir tomando algunas fotos desde la bicicleta. No llevé la cámara grande porque pesa un mundo y no quería tentar a la suerte... ya me veía enredado con el equipo en plena avenida 😅. Así que usé el teléfono, más práctico para el momento.

Salí desde la Universidad de La Habana, pasé por Nuevo Vedado, seguí por Playa y llegué hasta Santa Fe. En total, unos 25 km más o menos. 💪

Mientras pedaleaba me llamó la atención algo que nunca había notado: todos esos árboles en la colina, inclinados en la misma dirección. Cosas que uno solo ve cuando va sin apuro.

Las fotos las fui haciendo sobre la marcha, algunas desde la bici y otras en los semáforos. Quería darle un toque diferente al recorrido, más espontáneo.

Hacía rato quería detenerme a fotografiar la entrada del túnel que pasa bajo el río Almendares, pero como siempre iba en taxi, no podía. Esta vez sí me di el gusto.

Y ya en la división entre Jaimanitas y Santa Fe terminé el recorrido, cansado pero contento. Estas travesías en bici llegaron para quedarse.
