Photo Therapy / Monomad Challenge [Eng/Esp]

Good morning, #blackandwhite friends.

Yesterday I had a good friend visit me at home and, among other topics, we talked about mental health, the need to maintain it and what each of us did to achieve it. I replied that nothing made me feel better than taking my camera and going out in the street, although I had to explain it to him in more detail when I saw his astonishment. Why can it be relaxing for you to photograph in the street? -she asked. So we sat down in front of the computer and I started to explain.

Ayer me visitó en casa un buen amigo y, entre otros temas, hablamos de salud mental, de la necesidad de mantenerla y de lo que cada uno hacía para lograrlo. Le contesté que nada me hacía sentir mejor que coger mi cámara y salir a la calle, aunque tuve que explicárselo con más detalles cuando vi su asombro. ¿Por qué puede ser relajante para ti fotografiar en la calle? —me preguntó. Entonces nos sentamos frente al ordenador y le empecé a explicar.

First of all, it helps me to socialize and meet people; for example, this girl who was persistently looking for someone to take photos for her social networks.

Primeramente, me ayuda a socializar y a conocer gente; por ejemplo, a esta chica que buscaba de forma persistente a alguien que le hiciera fotos para sus redes sociales.

Every once in a while, I find a move and, if it includes the classic moving truck, it's a privilege. They used to be very common, but not so much anymore.

De vez en cuando, encuentro una mudanza y, si incluye el clásico camión de mudanzas, es un privilegio. Antes eran muy comunes, pero ya no tanto.

On a personal level, I don't like to travel on public buses because they are very dangerous and, in this heat, it becomes an odyssey; I prefer to walk.

A nivel personal, no me gusta viajar en autobuses públicos porque son muy peligrosos y, con este calor, se vuelve una odisea; prefiero caminar.

Waiting in line is a cultural heritage; there are plenty of reasons to do so. While I wait, I like to talk and listen, you can't imagine how much you learn.

Hacer cola es patrimonio cultural; los motivos sobran para hacerlo. Mientras espero, me gusta conversar y escuchar, ni se imaginan todo lo que uno se entera.

Lately I see more often that young people are going to the parks to do young people's things, and that entertains me.

Últimamente veo con más frecuencia que los jóvenes van a los parques a hacer cosas de jóvenes, y eso me entretiene.

I also use the pretext of street photography to find historical places, such as this building, the remains of the old Havana jail.

También me sirve el pretexto de la fotografía callejera para encontrar lugares históricos, como esta edificación, restos de la antigua cárcel de La Habana.

Observing is my way of understanding the world and this profession - as a photographer - keeps my mind alive, curious and grateful.
