On the Other Side of Silence. / Monomad Challenge [Eng/Esp]

Greetings, dear friends.

As I walked once again through the corridors of the old prison in the Castillo del Príncipe, one idea kept running through my mind.

I thought about death. About how it must feel to be in a place where so many people were deprived of their freedom. I don't know why, but it feels different there. As if she were walking slowly between the walls.

The silence is deafening. So are the shadows. And in the midst of that atmosphere, my imagination began to work. I began to think of her as a figure dressed in black, walking through the corridors, peering into the cells, crossing the courtyards.

Maybe it's just my mind creating stories. But there, all the spaces provoke that.

At the end of the journey, I reached the well. Dark, deep, full of water. I stared at it for a long time, and it made me think too much.

I don't know if my ideas are close to or far from reality. The truth is that the place raises questions.

And sometimes photography serves that purpose too.

Saludos, queridos amigos.

Mientras recorría nuevamente los pasillos de la antigua prisión del Castillo del Príncipe, había una idea que no dejaba de rondarme la cabeza.

Pensaba en la muerte. En cómo debe sentirse en un lugar donde tantas personas estuvieron privadas de libertad. No sé por qué, pero allí se percibe distinto. Como si ella caminara despacio entre los muros.

El silencio es fuerte. Las sombras también. Y en medio de ese ambiente mi imaginación comenzó a trabajar. Empecé a pensarla como una figura vestida de negro, recorriendo los pasillos, asomándose a las celdas, cruzando los patios.

Tal vez solo sea mi mente creando historias. Pero allí todos los espacios provocan eso.

Al final del recorrido llegué al pozo. Oscuro, profundo, lleno de agua. Me quedé mirándolo un buen rato y me hizo pensar demasiado.

No sé si mis ideas están cerca o lejos de la realidad. Lo cierto es que el lugar despierta preguntas.

Y a veces la fotografía también sirve para eso.
