i, #blackandwhite friends. I hope you’re all doing well. Today I’m going to tell you about my visit yesterday to some friends in the countryside. I’d gone with the idea of photographing some migratory waterfowl, since they’re already on their way back to North America… but my plans changed.

ola, amigos de #blackandwhite. Espero que estén bien. Hoy les cuento cómo me fue ayer en una visita que hice a unos amigos en el campo. Iba con la idea de fotografiar algunas aves acuáticas migratorias, porque ya están en época de regreso hacia Norteamérica… pero los planes cambiaron.

As soon as I arrived, my friends’ kids came running out to meet me so I could take their pictures. And believe me, I tried to slip away for a bit: “Just for a little while,” I told them… but there was no way out. In the end, I ended up spending all my time with them. The truth is, I really enjoy photographing them. They’re so creative, always laughing, and everything turns into a game.

Nada más llegar, los hijos de mis amigos salieron a mi encuentro para que les hiciera fotos. Y mira que intenté escaparme un poco: “un ratico nada más”, les dije… pero no hubo manera. Al final terminé dedicándoles todo el tiempo. La verdad es que disfruto mucho fotografiarlos. Son muy creativos, siempre están riendo, y todo se convierte en un juego.

They showed me their pets, from the dog to the cat… and before I knew it, I ended up being just another kid there with them. I didn’t take the photos I had in mind, but I did achieve something better: seeing them happy. And that, in the end, was what mattered most.

Me enseñaron sus animales, desde el perro hasta el gato… y sin darme cuenta, terminé siendo un niño más allí con ellos. No hice las fotos que tenía en mente, pero sí logré algo mejor: verlos felices. Y eso, al final, fue lo más importante.
