Composition Pending, Street and Crowd./ Monomad Challenge [Eng/Esp]

Hello friends, how's everything going?

I was recently talking to a photographer friend—who accompanied me on an outing after work yesterday—about how difficult I still find it to organize my images from a compositional point of view. It's something I still need to work on, I freely admit. Sometimes my emotions play tricks on me: I see the scene and don't want to miss it, which leads me to shoot without thinking too much about the composition. Even so, I enjoy the moment immensely, although I still wish I could apply these techniques more consciously in my photographs.

On this occasion, I ventured into a busy part of the city, with lots of people moving around. It's not exactly the ideal environment to be seen with a camera, so I took many of the photos from below, without looking through the viewfinder, trying to go unnoticed.

I particularly liked one of the images because, as I was passing by, a woman called out to me to ask why they had turned off the gas in the street. She told me she was cooking and didn't have time to finish. It's because of things like that—that spontaneous interaction with people—that I love this type of photography.

A business empty of products, but at least full of topics of conversation.

The dynamic that is created at the entrance to a school is interesting, and even more so when it involves teenagers: you only have to look at their faces to find stories.

I always look for these street signs; I find them deeply evocative.

A well-deserved rest in the shade.

And so yesterday morning passed: trying to blend into the crowd and shooting at will; my friend doing the same. We were literally two rangers, retracing our steps over and over again to see if the generous moment would allow itself to be captured.

Hola amigos, ¿cómo va todo?

Hace poco le comentaba a una amiga fotógrafa —que me acompañó ayer en una salida después del trabajo— lo mucho que aún me cuesta organizar mis imágenes desde el punto de vista compositivo. Es una asignatura pendiente que reconozco sin rodeos. A veces las emociones me juegan una trampa: veo la escena y no quiero perderla, y eso me lleva a disparar sin pensar demasiado en la composición. Aun así, disfruto enormemente el momento, aunque no dejo de desear aplicar esos recursos con mayor conciencia en mis fotografías.

En esta ocasión me adentré en una zona convulsa de la ciudad, con mucho movimiento de personas. No es precisamente el entorno ideal para que te vean con una cámara, así que muchas de las fotos las hice desde abajo, sin mirar el visor, intentando pasar desapercibido.

Me gustó especialmente una de las imágenes porque, mientras pasaba por allí, una señora me llamó para preguntarme por qué habían quitado el gas de la calle. Me contó que estaba cocinando y no le dio tiempo a terminar. Por cosas como esas —por esa interacción espontánea con la gente— es que amo este tipo de fotografía.

Negocio vacío de productos, pero al menos lleno de temas de conversación.

Resulta interesante la dinámica que se crea en la entrada de una escuela, y más aún cuando se trata de adolescentes: basta observar sus rostros para encontrar historias.

Siempre busco estos carteles de la calle; me parecen profundamente sugerentes.

Merecido descanso a la sombra.

Y así transcurrió la mañana de ayer: intentando pasar desapercibido entre la multitud y disparando a discreción; mi amiga haciendo lo mismo. Éramos, literalmente, dos rangers 😄, regresando una y otra vez sobre nuestros pasos para ver si el instante, generoso, se dejaba atrapar.
