Chronicles of a Street Photographer, Day 6./ Monomad Challenge [Eng/Esp]

Greetings, dear friends of #blackandwhite. Today I’m pleased to share some photos that brought back childhood memories—specifically, my martial arts training at a gym near my home. The place was nothing more than ruins when it first opened, the instructor told me, but through a lot of hard work, they managed to renovate it, and now it’s in use every day of the week.

Saludos, estimados amigos de #blackandwhite, hoy me place mostrarles algunas imágenes que fueron un catalizador a recuerdos de infancia; se trata de la práctica de artes marciales en un gimnasio cerca de mi casa. El lugar en sus principios no era más que ruinas, me comentaba su instructor, pero con mucho sacrificio lograron acondicionarlo y ya está en uso todos los días de la semana.

The parents are grateful, and the kids even more so, a mother told me as she watched me; instead of being out on the street facing a thousand dangers, here they learn the discipline typical of these arts and also how to defend themselves.

Los padres lo agradecen y los chicos más, me decía una madre mientras me observaba; en lugar de estar en la calle con mil peligros, aquí aprenden la disciplina típica de estas artes y también a defenderse.

I remember that as a child I did judo, and those were some of the happiest hours of the day; as soon as we left school, we would run to the gym.

Recuerdo que de niño estaba en judo, y aquello era de las horas más felices en el día; apenas salíamos de la escuela, corríamos hacia el gimnasio.

In fact, many of my closest friends are from that golden era.

De hecho, muchos de los grandes amigos que tengo son de aquella época dorada.

And I was there for about an hour and a half; I moved around the place to find the best angle without getting in the way of the training, and that’s how these photos came out.

Y allí estuve hora y media aproximadamente; me desplazaba por el lugar para encontrar el mejor ángulo sin estorbar el entrenamiento y así salieron estas fotografías.
