Greetings, dear friends at Hive.

How are you doing? Over here, it's boiling hot, typical of these almost summery months. Today I'm feeling a little philosophical, and that's because there's always a question that pops into my head every time I go out with a colleague to do street photography:

What catches your attention the most on the street, to the point that you feel compelled to take a photo?

This always leads to a very interesting debate, because I learn a lot from the ways in which others interpret the street and its dynamics. So today I decided to ask myself the question... and also answer it. My grandmother would say it sounds strange, but I woke up with that idea, and we're going to explore it.

Question: Muhammad, what captivates you so much that you have to take a photo of it when you're on the street?

¿Qué tal, cómo les va? Por acá, un calor infernal, típico de estos meses casi veraniegos. Hoy estoy un poco filosófico, y es porque siempre hay una pregunta que me da vueltas en la cabeza cada vez que salgo con algún colega a hacer street photography:
¿Qué es lo que más te llama la atención en la calle, como para hacerle una foto casi de forma obligatoria?
De ahí siempre surge un debate muy interesante, porque aprendo muchísimo de las formas en que los demás interpretan la calle y sus dinámicas. Así que hoy decidí hacerme la pregunta a mí mismo… y también responderme. Suena raro diría mi abuela, pero amanecí con esa idea, y vamos a explotarla.
Pregunta: Muhammad, ¿qué te cautiva tanto como para que tengas que hacerle una foto sí o sí cuando estás en la calle?

1 - Street sculptures, statues, and, in general, any work of art in the open air always catch my attention. The city is full of them.

Las esculturas de la calle, las estatuas y, en general, cualquier obra de arte a cielo abierto siempre atraen mi atención. La ciudad está llena de ellas.

2 - Stray cats have so much personality, many of them are very serious and have a strong character, and they are usually very well cared for.

2 - Los gatos callejeros, es que tienen tanta personalidad, super serios y de carácter lucen muchos de ellos, y por lo general muy bien cuidados.

3 - Cars in motion, whether classic or modern.

3 - Los autos en movimiento, sean clásicos o modernos.

4 - The facades of family buildings, and even more so if they have a mural with drawings.

5 - Bike taxis.

6 - Young people, whether playing in the street or chatting on street corners.

7 - And the shadows cast by the buildings in the oldest part of the city.
