Sleepless Eyes: The Mystique and Crafting of Authentic Yemeni Baqrani Agate

Hello, Hive community and gemstone enthusiasts around the world. Today, from my personal workshop, I am sharing a piece of my passion and daily craft: cutting and polishing one of the rarest and most beautiful varieties of Yemeni Agate, known locally as "Baqrani" (Eye Agate).

Yemeni Eye Agate is not just a gemstone; it is a natural canvas formed over millions of years inside the volcanic rocks of Yemen's mountains. What sets this variety apart is the perfectly concentric, circular bands and layers that remarkably mimic the human eye.

Bringing these "eyes" and natural landscapes to life from raw mountain rocks requires immense patience and experience. The journey begins by precisely slicing the rough stone with diamond saws, carefully estimating where the center of the eye lies. Next is the shaping stage, grinding it into a perfectly symmetrical oval cabochon, followed by multi-stage polishing to give the stone its brilliant, light-reflecting finish.
For me, crafting these stones is not just a daily profession; it is a renewed passion to unveil the hidden treasures generously gifted by the blessed Yemeni land, and to share this ancient heritage with the entire world.
I hope this collection has captured your admiration and touched your refined taste.
