It is the Spring or Vernal Equinox today in the US. The Spring Equinox means different things to many different cultures of this I am sure. This is a day to enjoy of practically equal amounts of light and dark. Personally, it is a great reminder that the sun has returned and the days will begin to get longer. My family practices an eclectic pagan path.
I have resurrected my Rose of Jericho for this time of year. The Rose of Jericho is known as the resurrection plant, which means the plant never dies and comes back to life once gets in touch with water.

This rose has ties to Christian, Santeria, and Hoodoo traditions. The plant itself is known for several things. One of many benefits of the rose is to bring good luck in the home. I use the water from the plant for spell work. One thing you can do is sprinkle it at the front door of the house. I add a few coins and a quartz crystal for my rose.
Other ways I have celebrated the equinox in the past is balancing brooms, chairs, or eggs. When I was a child I remember my mother sharing with us when to balance an egg. This is both appropriate for sabbats at or around this time of year and the spring equinox. As the wheel turns when it is warm enough walk barefoot against the earth and take a moment to breathe.. enjoy the cycles of nature.

Wow! This is so cool, how much time it takes?

@pravesh0 when I took mine out and gave it water in like 24 hours it opens then I just add more water to make it greener. Also, you can feed it coins or crystals and let it dry back up and then wake it back up to have it release the items you have you have allowed it to consume when drying out.

@mrscryptopanda85...

I love that coffee mug...

So many people have gotten too in tune with being "out of tune". This was a lovely post... change of the seasons, sharing a family tradition, and the Rose of Jericho plant... if I might ask... when you said:

Is this family tradition being passed down? Or something newer? Not being nosey... just curious! I hope you are having a great weekend...

@wesphilbin My mother's family came over from Germany on a boat. I personally believe that we learn influences of our heritage through our upbringing. My mom did not present it as anything but, during this time of the year we can do this but, by my learning about my path I was able to make certain connections. Also, my mother was a school teacher so, I sometimes think maybe it had something to do with that but, I really believe it was the Germanic heritage. Thanks for stopping by.... !Luv
