Nutrition Month / Nutri-Idol
Nutrition month is celebrated in the Philippines every year, once. This is not new, obviously, however, eating healthy food seems forgotten because of delicious but processed food. Also, it's even harder to find healthy food that has become so expensive. Fruits and vegetables, if they are found, the prices are hard to afford for middle-class households.
That's why in the month of July, it is being celebrated but it's not just for entertainment. It is in fact an awareness for the children and could be for parents who are knowledgeable enough about the context of that month. Healthy eating should be practiced at home first although being taught at school. It's being held with a certain event at school to highlight the significant importance to our daily lives.
These days, the nutrition of the food is being neglected. What happened to the food being categorized into a group according to their nutritional benefits; Remember the Go, Grow, and Glow?
___" 1. Go foods: Energy-giving foods, like carbohydrates (rice, bread, pasta), which provide fuel for the body.
- Grow foods: Body-building foods, like proteins (meat, fish, eggs, dairy), which support growth and repair.
- Glow foods: Protective foods, like fruits and vegetables, which provide essential vitamins and minerals for overall health.”____
A short introduction about how important it is not to ignore the nutrition of every food we eat. It's being celebrated only once a year in a single month but shouldn't be forgotten and should be practiced over and over again. For a healthy body and mind, nutrition is very important.
On the other hand, SJC San Francisco, initiated a Nutri-Idol show. Every contestant is a student of that school that wears their elegant costume made from the said event, Nutrition Month. Of course, it's all about the nutrition month although diverted it into a show. To entertain someone is the best way to explain.
“Again, never forget to eat healthy and nutritious foods.”

Kaygaganda naman ng mga dilag na iyan. Love the costumes! And Nutrition Month is also one of a fun events in school. May mga pa events and even introducing different kinds of vegetables. I remember during high school, may mga cooking competition pa nga using just healthy ingredients. It's a fun experience for me to look back. I hope some still experience all of this though.
This is one I like during Nutrition Month that is having competition showing outfit that are made from indigenous materials, and from fruits and vegetables. Aside from this, it's an avenue for students to showcase their talent and skills making such custome and boosting their confidence in front of a crowd.
