Direct Buying Vegetables at Supplier

If you own a store you always keep in mind your customers. Your priority is to sell affordable items depending on the community you are in. Now, the type of community I am in is a rural place or specifically a province place. You'll expect that most customers who buy or visit your store are the middle-class type of people or even lower-class. Obviously, you're aiming for customers that will not step back hearing the prices of your items or goods.

We all know that meat nowadays is the same price as gold. The best option if people get used to preservative viand foods like canned sardines, noodles, and frozen foods are vegetables. If people get tired of eating them, they will switch to eating vegetables. Also, there are people who prefer vegetables since it's fresh and healthy. That is why, I myself decided to buy vegetables to sell in my small store. Of course, if I'd buy it in the market where the sellers bought the items from the farmers the prices would be higher or a little bit more expensive. So I suggested not to buy there but instead from the farmers or households who grow their vegetables in their backyards.

I thought it was a way of supporting our local farmers. They would not be cornered with too big discounts from bigger companies or rich businessmen. The price they'd offer would be the final price to buy it since I'd think it's not that expensive compared to supermarkets or markets. By the way, talking about the market, one specific tag came to mind because it's Friday. It's #marketfriday hosted by @dswigle (Denise), I'm sure you'll enjoy posting it every Friday. It allows you to showcase the beautiful things you've seen, not just for the market but also for a place where you paid for it.

Now, where are we? Ah okay, let's go now to the house where different vegetables can be found in the backyard. The owner of this little farm is a couple or maybe you can call it a garden since it's not that big. My partner who she knew and they communicated with each other through Facebook about buying vegetables.

It was our first time visiting her house that looked like this, full of different vegetables. I could already tell what an amazing place this owner has by just glimpsing the surroundings. Imagine, an environment surrounded with green, you know what I mean; A wonderful nature.

We bought bitter gourd, bottle gourd, and lady's fingers because at the moment those were the only available. She has many grown vegetables there but she just harvested a week ago. She said to let a single week pass first before she could harvest again. It's too sad that the eggplant was not available. I was looking forward to buying it when she posted her vegetables on Facebook.

We started our negotiation of the price. She offered every vegetable price at 60 pesos or USD 1.1. We didn't ask for a discount of course because it was a good price already. Both of us were not at a loss in terms of finances. Also, I considered her hard work and expenses in growing vegetables and I thought my customers wouldn't think it was pricey when I'd sell it for 65 or 70 pesos. I'd always thought that we and the customers would not be taken for granted about the price. The relationship is important after all so it's better not to raise the price so people or customers will think of coming back again when they'll realize about the items we are selling.

Before we end here, I'm going to show you a rare shape of a pineapple. At first, I couldn't believe that it really was but one of the farmers who owned it outside told me about it. I took a closer look and yeah, it's a pineapple. He said it was just an abnormal fruit, well I forgot to ask him if it can be eaten or might be poisonous. Not sure but maybe it was still a pineapple fruit, lol.

That is awesome, Paul~! @mrnightmare89 I think that you are the perfect person to run a small local market. While your business sense is not 100% because the business is not making everything that it can, it is with your human heart that you run it and the same heart is used when you are dealing with farmers. You cannot help but be a kind and compassionate soul. It is the only way you know to be. This is what you were dealt when you were growing up and there were times when you did not get the biggest break... I know this from where you get your compassion from.

You have lived this life. I am so proud of where you are going and the route you are taking to get there. Thank you so much for taking us with you on your journey. \
#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday
