Chasing Dragonflies
Chasing the things we love is normal to us, humans. It may sound greedy to crave for something we desperately want to have. Who is to judge when happiness is what matters to all of us. We work so hard for the purpose of our own happiness. It’s not bad, though it’s too much sometimes that we neglect the important things in our way.
There’s a saying, “the more you chase the more it is distant from you.” Oh, sorry about that, I know Valentine’s Day happened yesterday but I think it’s not bad to insert thoughts about love. “If there’s someone you love, you should let it free instead of jailing it in your arms. Though how you could do it when you don’t want him/her to vanish or to be with someone. It’s complicated but the best way to explain it is acceptance. Accept what’s coming and what’s leaving because forcing someone is not love but rather obsession.
Back to Dragonfly which is the reason why I’m having these thoughts. I remember it’s Wednesday yesterday and even if I’m not that active in Hive these days. I can never forget walking when the Day of Wednesday came. YesI’m talking about #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay because it gave me an idea that I should enjoy the view outside even just once a week. So, yeah, unlike yesteryears’ I always have time to go outside. Also, I wonder how’s @dswigle Denise since I haven’t seen or read her posts. I hope I can receive comments below about how she is right now.
There’s a small river at the back of our house. I can often see people washing clothes, washing dishes, and taking a bath. Also fetching water to drink from that small spring where the source of water can be found. I go there occasionally when I have time and when I feel like taking a bath there and washing clothes. When I was there, I took my time before going back home. I usually go sightseeing while wandering my eyes from the surroundings.
On one occasion, I took a rest after washing quite a lot of clothes. I was having an amazing feeling despite being tired because of the view. I accidentally saw dragonflies from a distance. I had my phone at that time, you know it’s fun to work while listening to music. I slowly walked towards where the dragonflies were freely flying while some just stayed in small branches of plants.
I slowly walked to make sure not to freit them. A mobile phone’s camera is not that handy when capturing a distance. I think it’s more than an hour before I was satisfied with the images. Dragonflies kept flying away when I was almost near them. Well, it’s understandable.
After taking photos, I smirked blatantly. I hid from the people in that river to avoid being fun after I smirked alone. I just realized it later but with that simplest action I found myself happy. I was too focused on being amazed by the beauty of dragonfly and forgot the things that bothered me. It’s funny but what matters was the time I relished myself.
Chasing or not to the things you love are always depending on the situation. Chasing is bad but sometimes it is not. Maybe let’s say that it could be subjective. On the other hand, it’s up to person how he/she will handle it as long as he/she will not hurt herself/himself in the end. As long as it’s not too much and as long as you don’t forget your limitations I think you will be fine.
