Teleogryllus emma

Teleogryllus emma, commonly known as the Emma field cricket or the Japanese burrowing cricket, is a species of cricket belonging to the family Gryllidae. Native to East Asia, especially Japan, Korea, China, and parts of Southeast Asia, T. emma is known for its distinctive, melodic chirping, produced by males to attract females. This species typically inhabits fields, grassy areas, and forest edges and is often observed in agricultural settings where it burrows into the soil.

The crickets are usually dark brown to black with some lighter patterns, and they are primarily nocturnal, becoming active at dusk and throughout the night. Teleogryllus emma plays an important role in ecosystems as both a consumer of plants and organic matter and as prey for various animals.
