Where in PH: Exploring the Calinawan Cave

Hi there Hivers!

IMG_8769.jpg

I recently explored Calinawan Cave in Tanay, Rizal, Philippines and I just can't stop thinking about what I witnessed. The cave in Barangay Tandang Kutyo is a massive system with multiple levels, numerous chambers, and various openings. Interestingly, it has served as a hideout for Filipino revolutionaries during the Spanish-American war, and as a shelter during the Second World War. According to local folklore, the cave got its name from the word "linaw" which means "to settle" or "to clear" in Filipino, as it was believed to be where Japanese and American troops settled their disputes.

Calinawan Cave's main entrance is located on Calinawan Road in Tandang Kutyo, which is the first paved road on the right when heading to the waterfalls from Daranak Road. If you would want to tour the interiors, there are guides available on-site. You can pay them whatever you like, but P200 is a reasonable starting price for an hour of guiding. The cave's entrance is on a privately owned plot of land, and each person who enters the underground system must pay 50 pesos.

Since the typical tourist trail is very easy, exploring the cave doesn't require any technical or specialized skills. You should prepare to stroll on dim, human-passable trails, therefore carry a headlamp or a flashlight. These paths lead to a few openings and rooms.

Get ready to be enthralled by the many stalactites and stalagmites, some featuring sparkling crystals and freely flowing spring water. If you're in the mood for even more adventure, your guide can take you to areas of the cave that are rarely explored and less frequented than the regular pathways.

The tour guide tells everything and information about the cave and it is really interesting

Our group didn't want to miss this opportunity so we gathered and took some shots.
The lighting is just perfect and I can say that our tour guides are so approachable they even gave us good lighting. I really appreciate them :)

For us to reach the exit we need to crawl and make sure that we will not bump into the rocks, the way is so narrow glad that we have helmets cause I hit a lot of rocks several times lol.

We have our last group and the view is just perfect!

This Cave is really a treasure! I hope that our government spends more time and budget for this to be a more safe tourist attraction.
A must-visit place if you are into adventure!

That's it for today, thank you for reading.
Have a nice day ahead!

This is Mooon, Peace out! 🤙

Wow, such an enchanting place. I am not a fan of going to caves as I feel scared in tight places haha. But with a big group like this, might as well explore na lang haha. Nice photos with the lighting!
