¡Buenas a tod@s! Uno de mis lugares favoritos de Málaga es el Jardín Botánico-histórico de La Concepción, en el cual tuve la tremenda suerte de trabajar como guía. Entre sus numerosas plantas, cuya colección ha ido aumentando en los últimos años se encuentra el grupo de las plantas acuáticas.

Hello everyone! One of my favorite places in Malaga is the Botanical-Historical Garden of La Concepcion, where I had the good fortune to work as a guide. Among its many plants, whose collection has been increasing in recent years is the group of aquatic plants.

La planta del loto, cuyo nombre científico es Nelumbo nucifera es conocida en todo el mundo. Flor sagrada de la india, símbolo de pureza, sabiduría y espiritualidad.

The lotus plant, whose scientific name is Nelumbo nucifera is known all over the world. It is a sacred flower of India, symbol of purity, wisdom and spirituality.

Es capaz de crecer en el lodo, lo que simboliza la capacidad de abrir caminos y resurgir, incluso en las circunstancias más adversas u oscuras e iluminarlas con su belleza.

La flor, al marchitarse, deja paso a sus curiosos receptáculos de semillas, muy usados en floristerías en arreglos florales. Sus formas me parecen muy peculiares y bellas. Los grandes boquetes vacíos reflejan que han soltado sus semillas al agua, muchas de ellas, darán lugar a nuevos ejemplares.

The flower, when withering, gives way to its curious seed receptacles, widely used in flower shops in floral arrangements. I find their shapes very peculiar and beautiful. The large empty holes reflect that they have released their seeds into the water, many of them will give rise to new specimens.
