My entry to today's Monomad Challenge: City walk

It's been a while since I've been downtown, and some time ago I also commented that I had stopped doing street photography because of the dangerous situation, the robberies and people working for the narco is too much and on more than one occasion I got to capture these people in activities such as selling drugs and similar situations, so thinking that indeed I had a record and that could cause me a problem, I chose to stop going out to do photography, just to walk; and I carried the camera just in case, but I had to see something very special to take the camera out and use it.

The situation has not changed, it is still the same or worse, the current government is a piece of crap that some dare to cheer, I guess it is because they receive some benefit and they are blinded to reality, hay que salir a vivir la vida mijo, mira la realidad, but well, a couple of weeks ago before the heat was as unbearable as it is today, I went downtown and I brought 7 pictures for you.

What has changed? Well as I say it is still quite insecure but I am confident that if someone tries to mug me they will not get away clean, and in the case of those who work for the narco, I simply decided that I would start using Gimp to remove them from the photographs, something that curiously in my point of view is not correct since I think the allowed adjustments should only be contrast corrections and some color, if there is a bottle that should not be in the picture we should move it at the moment of taking the picture and not rely so much on the fact that we can alter the image, I feel that with time it becomes boring, just like my life is becoming without the excitement of going out in the streets, so now I have decided.

Although the city where I live is small and in many occasions I consider it boring, at least photographically speaking, there are not usually many cultural events, there are parties where there is plenty of beer but not culture, in fact at this moment they are tearing down the City of Arts, and in its place they will put a soccer stadium, that's all I can say, anyway, this afternoon there were several scenes that I liked just like the one that started the photographic afternoon, that contrast and silhouette I liked a lot.

Then I moved to the entry of a small market, there is always activity there and literally people don't mind seeing photographers at least not there, plus with my small 24mm lens I go unnoticed.

Same area, different framing, I turned 30 degrees to my right and the result is quite good I think.

And taking advantage of that street called "Puebla", I moved about 50 meters again turning 30 degrees to the right, as you can see there was quite a lot of contrast due to the time of taking the pictures, although strangely I feel that it works quite well to take B&W pictures at that time.

Same place, but I did what I normally avoid and that is to photograph people from the front to avoid damaging their privacy, but thinking that now I was determined to use Gimp to remove what I didn't want I decided to take the photo despite the children in it, then when editing the temptation was too much and I decided to keep them because they are really part of the photo, and having minor corrections it could even be considered Documentary photography, comment if you agree, or not.

I went back to the main square to take a last picture of the Cathedral of Tepic, the one that has been under repair for 3 years I think, according to each day the repair is getting more expensive and I don't know how many millions have been spent, most people think that they are just taking advantage of people who decide to donate, I did it once not because I am religious, but because it is definitely part of the history of the city and at the end of the day it serves as a motive for photography, but being asked every week to make a repair that has no end. ... it gets annoying.

And finally at the bus stop, when I go downtown I don't take my car, I hate the downtown traffic, the heat, the few parking spaces available, and especially how expensive they are, also when I go to take pictures, I start at point “A” and by the time I finish the walk maybe I'm already at point “Z” and walking back to where I left the car is exhausting, I better take a public transportation and that's it, thanks for joining me, see you later.
