Making progress in our rice production farm, more work over the weekend

Hello Hive

The manner in which farming excites me cannot be expressed.
Do you want to know that right here in my house we still are still eating the rice from last year production?

It might also interest you to know that we sold some of it for some finance when we are almost stranded.

The harvest from last year was around 10bags of rice and as at today still have a bag left.
This is to tell you that I haven't bought a single grain of rice this year yet.

Even though it is a subsistent kind of farming we still go out to sell a percentage each time we are in desperate need of money for other activities.

Although I was really sad selling the rice grains as at that time since it is the exact quantity of grains we needed to last us for the whole year.
And now once the last bag is exhausted I might have to buy the rice needed to feed the children but this time at a much higher price since prices have gone up almost twice of what they used to be.

Never to worry another farming season work has commenced fully and from the picture you can see the progress work done so far.

I have posted about how we started nursing this rice in the month of may.
Today they are above 3weeks and the land is really fertile keeping them green and healthy.

We often deploy various means to grow rice. Either by direct planting in the farms or we pass through the nursery stage like this.

Both factor depends on how much rain wter.
But rice that has grown to some stage from the nursery can easily be transplanted without challenges.

The rice here at the nursery is ready to be transplanted but the soil is not waterlogged yet

You can see that there is no water on the ground yet. Transplanted rice will have to struggle here to survive.
so we wait for another rain before commencing with trans planting.

But in any case since we have a large portion of the field to cover we are planning on either planting the rice bit by bit on this dry ground before transplanting the remaining portion when the field gets waterlogged subsequently.
The rice to be planted will be soaked in water today and prepared for planting in between the week and towards the weekend.
The weekend has been quite a stressful one for me and I believe that you can see the reason why.

If you have made it this far, I say thank you for stopping by.

Nice work on the garden. Eating what you grow or growing what you eat is a path to sustainability. Trans planting is all about timing. Hopefully the ground will be wet soon.
