Jackets do not have to be boring, How I sewed one more Jacket for myself
Hello Hive
As we proceed into the year there has been more series of heavy downpour and the weather keeps getting colder.
We have had more rains this year than any others I have known, the rain is good for food productions talking about farming but for some of us with health challenges the cold weather is a trigger we have to watch out for.
I have to stay warm to stay healthy, having sewn one or two jacket for myself in the past, it was just about time to sew another one and this time I do not want a boring jackets.
Something a little fashionable and can be worn both as an outfit and to keep me warm as well.
My choice of fabric will determine what kind of Jacket I sew.
I got fed up of the regular plain or single color jackets. You have seen a plain blue, black white or even yellow jackets.
But how about jackets in flowery patterns fabrics, this is not really an office suit but more like an after blouse where you get to put on a camisole underneath and you can see just how I have achieved that.
I got these flowery fabrics, cut out the back bodice here.
And proceed to slash the front block.
The neckline doesn't have to be a deep one so I cut out a dimension of
2.5" width by 1" depth for the back
2.5" width by 2" depth for the front.
The normal basic sleeve was cut here since I do not have enough of the fabric to make any dramatic sleeve.
Next was the sewing phase on the machine.
And then I want some finishing touches of plain navy blue around the neckline and front block.
And it was time to have fun with some photography, am happy that I can stay warm in some lovely jackets.
that's a nice and fuzzy looking jacket. Nicely done

These prints are very unique, I like what you did to that sleeves, and yes of course a jacket does have to boring.
Thank you for sharing. You can now give it to me so I can model it for you 😁
I will gladly gift them to you since I can sew more and more of them.
Thanks for stopping by dear and so sorry for the late reply
You are welcome.
I prefer this flowering patterned fabric jacket to the regular plain ones, perks of a fashion designer huh.
Oooh, really nice, dear @monica-ene ! I love a jacket that comes in at the waist like this - and which has borders on it - and beautifully neat sleeves! Great work, and I am sure that it'll both look really good on you, and will feel very comfortable. I was given some old material by a friend this week, and there is some shiny blue and gold fabric, which usually I wouldn't be so attracted to, as I prefer natural materials always, BUT I am keen to see if I can make an elegant jacket out of it - thank you for the inspiration! 🤗
