First batch or sprouting yam seedlings.

Hello Hive

I can't hide my excitement today, showing us my first batch of sprouting yam seedlings.
On weekends like this, I am often privileged to visit the farm for longer hours checking all the crops that have been planted and the ones that are calling for for clean up such as weeding.

It took almost about 4month to have this seedling come out.
Remember how I have writing that yams take approximately 8month and beyond for it to become fully matured
And we often plant our yams early enough.

Since November last year we have made this heaps and planted the seeds since December.

This is about 3-4 weeks old since germination and from here it will begin to develop leaves.

You can also see the debris all around the farms that we have used for mulching to protect the seedling from getting rotten under the heat of the dry season sun.

I am very well pleased with this years planting since larger percent of the planted seeds terminated instead of the times where they get rotten and would need replacement about this time.

A month from now we would be weeding the tuber as you can see the weeds germinating alongside
In order to have a good harvest we must work occasionally in the farm to keep away weeds from the hip or add manual fertilizers if the tubers are not performing well.
