Closer to the sun: above the clouds

(Edited)

Light is needed to make things visible. When we think about light – we most likely think about illumination from electrical devices or the sun.

I made several photos of lamps in my home because I figured the lamps would be more unique than a sunset photo. However, I contradicted myself because I spent a lot of time looking at sunset photos to make a selection. Then I remembered this special photo.

above the clouds

I took this photo whilst up in the air. I was travelling from England to the Netherlands. The plane was above the clouds. I felt so close to the sun and all felt quite surreal. I love this photo because the sunlight illuminated the "blanket" of clouds and the sky but there is still darkness.

I have a fascination with the sun and sunlight. I think everyone enjoys a lovely sunrise or sunset. I love the sun so much, I even wrote a poem about it some time ago. Here is it:

The Sun
The twilight waits in anticipation to welcome its morning star.
The morning mist dissipates, to allow its luminosity.
Rising in all its majesty, it kisses the distant horizon,
Whilst the gaseous atmosphere scatters its rays,
for a heavenly hue.

Bright and yellow,
unforgivingly, audaciously - making its presence known.
Stealthily but gracefully - is its approach,
Silently but gloriously - it illuminates,
Proudly and unabashedly - it journeys
across the heavens.

Hovering above regally -
its crown dazzles and shimmers,
Overwhelming vision with its opulence and brilliance.
Beaming its searing rays,
Casting mysterious shadows,
Melting away clouds as its aura radiates.

Grandiose, exquisite, bodacious..........
.......bowing only to mother time.

These photos are beautiful. I love the one where the sun is sitting above the clouds and the clouds look like a fluffy blanket.

Beautiful photos and beautiful poem!
I'm a sucker for a sunset too (I've written 2 posts with lots of photos!).
With that warm red light, the sunset is fascinating; and when the light intensity drops almost completely, only a beautiful red disk remains!

Thank you. I was tempted to include more sunset photos but I refrained. I will definitely take a look at your post.

When such a view occurs in the evening when a person is looking at the sun, it looks very beautiful.

Hmm.
I think I won't agree to the fact that lamp pictures are more unique than sunset but both are beautiful
The pictures are lovely!

Precisely - that is why I did not post them. The first photo I shared is special and better than the lamp photos I made. Maybe I will share those at some other time.
