Picking Up Cow Poop for Manure: Saturday Walk with Kids
Hello, wonderful people of the Wonderful Hive World. Hope all are doing well. It's been twelve days since my last post. Those were the busier days. Hopefully, I can write more posts in the days ahead. Now, let me share my Weekend Experience with my two pretty daughters.
Yesterday, Saturday, I tried to have a rest from all the tiring days I had been. Thankfully I had someone to help me clean and do all the household chores for that day. But Jewel remembered that her teacher told them to bring manure for their school garden on Monday. She did not stop asking me what manure is, where to get it and how can she have it. So, the three of us, Jewel, Janneah and I went to the open ground near our house where we can see the cows to find cow poop.
Looking for Manure
We decided to look for cow poop at 3 pm so that it would not be so hot outside. I put on plastic gloves on them and brought a plastic bag for the manure. As kids, they were so excited to go outside and discover what manure is. Hahaha, they don't have any idea that it was cow poop.
On the way we went. Our place looks like a little forest since we have not cleaned it and cut the tall grasses in our surroundings.
On the open field, we can see the white cow from afar. Surely, we can find manure. Good thing it did not rain that day.
What a nice place outside. Looking around, I realized that I had never been to that place lately even if it was just meters away from our house. Every time there is no work, I just stayed inside our house doing the unending household chores of a mother.
A little hike we did on that day too. That is why I put on a towel on their back because it could be a long walk ahead.
And also, a hat on each one for sun's hot protection. Before we did the walk to the manure 😁, I let Jewel eat half glass of ice cream. This is to ensure she has enough blood sugar to go outside the hot open field.
Ops, here it was. We found what we were looking for. I told them to pick it up using their hands with a plastic glove.
They shouted for joy and excitedly picked it up.
I was so amused at their reactions when I told them that it was cow poop. Lol. Jewel immediately stopped picking it up and shouted ewwww. Hahahah.
But I told them that it was ok for they were to wash their hands after. Janneah never stops laughing while picking up the manure.
After a few moments, they already enjoyed what they were doing and keep on looking for more dried cow poop.
This was also a wonderful learning experience for them as a kid. They learned that cow poop could be a fertilizer.
The plastic bag was almost full. We only need a few more manures to look at.
Going to another area looking for cow poop.
More manures we found. They seemed to be enjoying playing while complying with what the teacher asked them to bring.
They wanted to get more but the plastic bag was already full. So, I told them to stop and that it was time to go home.
Going back home, we had to pass by the white cow. They were scared to get near, but I told them that it won't hurt them.
But actually, I was scared also.. haha. When we were near the cow it move closer to us and wanted to get the plastic bag. Maybe the cow thought that it was food. I told Jewel and Janneah to run because it pushed me back.🤣
Thank God we were okay and were heading home.
The Beautiful Nature
On our way home we found lots of "Kipikipi" plants, which I think is "Touch-Me-Not". Its leaflets will fold and drop when touched.
Look at the two bunch of leaflets.
It folded when I touched it.
Opened
Closed
I showed my kids how the plants reacted to my touch. And they were so amazed.
Maybe plants like us have feelings also. It just showed how wonderful are God's creation.
After the Quest
At last, we were done on our quest and were home. It was a walk full of discovery and learning for the kids.
The feeling of success after a quest. Hahahah. They asked me to go back for another plastic bag of manure, but I was tired already.
Of course, should not forget to wash their hands thoroughly with soap and running water.
It was a wonderful day indeed.
That is all for this blog. May you find it amusing and enjoyable. Thank you once again for the time spent reading.
With love, mommyjane 😘.

Is this for Gulayan sa Paaralan preparation? Hehe
Good job kids!
I think so. 😁😁
This is an activity we never had to do while in school or otherwise. However, it's good for the kids to know what it is used for.
Also I hope you can be more active on Hive in the near future.
True @erikah. Almost all of us here had tried this one. Bringing manure to school. 😁
