The Kelpies

We arrived in the far north of Scotland yesterday.

We are staying about 80 miles south of John O Groats which is the most northern part of Scotland (approximately) in a place called Grannies Helian Hame. On the way here we passed some amazing places.

On route to this part of the country we stopped at this astonishing piece of art.
The Kelpie is a mythical water creature that looks remarkably like a horse!

The light kept changing and it totally changed the way these sculptures looked.

I also post my photos on Google maps which get millions of views. Just goes to show the power of search engines.

Amazing monumental art installation seemingly in the middle of nowhere? Worth a look if you want a break on a long road trip.

Read more on wikipedia.

The Kelpies is a 30-metre-high horse-head sculptures depicting kelpies, located between Falkirk and Grangemouth, standing next to a new extension to the Forth and Clyde Canal, and near River Carron, in The Helix, a new parkland project built to connect 16 communities in the Falkirk Council Area, Scotland. And now for something completely different and totally unrelated.
Try not to laugh.

The Kelpies address quite stunning. We go there fairly regularly because as you say they look different in different light and at different times of the year too!

They are truly impressive. It's not often that I'm impressed these days but the Kelpies blew my mind.
I took a load of photos with light changing constantly. Some in 4k. I'll edit them after the trip but I'd bet that they will be stunning.

It was incredibly cool to see the variations in the way the Kelpies reflected the lighting.

A photographers dream subject. 📷👍🏼

Must be interesting to visit throughout the year?

Yeah, they really are. Apart from in winter with the steely grey skies they don't stand out as much but the rest of the time yes. It's always good to get them at a sunset as well!

Sunsets must light them up beautifully and with steely grey skies I would've imagined that they would probably pop right out if shot in raw?

I've been there a couple of times. They are magnificent. So is the Falkirk Wheel nearby.

I'd never heard of the Kelpies before visiting them myself. I thought a Kelpie was some kind of shellfish? 🤦‍♂️😂 They truly are magnificent.

My son popped over to film the Falkirk Wheel so I'll see his photos of it.
It had been a long enough drive already so decided to pass on it this time.

Maybe I'll swing by on the return leg?

It's fascinating to see how it's held together. Very elegant design. I noticed also that flocks of birds have made a home inside. How cool is that. 😎👍🏼

Thanks for this great post !LUV
Scotland is just awesome, this country still fascinates me, it has an incredible aura and gifted history.... some time ago, I read a sentence that grew deep in my heart and made me want to know more about it... that was:
"The Scots said to the English troops that they will never fight us because we are their brothers and sisters".
There is really a lot to discover, that the tomb of the prophet Jeremiah is in Scotland and I would really like to see it.

Scotland is a great place to visit. I'm enjoying the majestic scenery. I hadn't heard of the Jeremiah connection?

I totally agree with you... majestic is the right expression.
That's what's so blatant, very few people know about these connections and a lot is done to make sure we don't find them if at all possible.

Some courageous and extremely lovable people and I, dare to look at the hidden traces that would be left here in this world and lead a bible study, where you can find out... where the descendants of the (allegedly) lost tribes of Israel have gone and there are even more exciting things to find.
For example that the two sons of Judah - Perez and Serach were twins and that this tribe was the largest and strongest.
From Perez came the Germans, White Russians and Ukrainians and from Serach the Scots and Irish... from which I conclude that this is why they said to the tyrannical troops of the English: We never fight against our brothers and sisters.

Here is a map of the Reformation and lineages of the tribes.

There are those who pretend to be the descendants of the Israelites and are not.
The title ISRAEL was given to Jacob our progenitor and is a descent, not a geographical assignment. Therefore, one is not an Israelite if one lives in Israel or appropriates the land through wars.
