Colmar France Photo Walk & People Watching
The Alsace region is a fascinating place and the town of Colmar is picturesque to say the least.
I'm writing this from London as we had a medical emergency. Everything is OK now.
I'll explain what happened in a future post once I get my backlog published. It's quite a tale in itself.

We sat drinking coffee and eating cakes in the middle of the market area just people watching for a few hours which seemed to pass in minutes.
Do you ever just sit and take in the ambience. The aroma of the coffee the taste of a lovely cake?
These days it seems people are glued to their phones and are almost completely oblivious to what is going on around them.
I was going to crop the images until I noticed that I had inadvertently captured something kind of unique.
This is the reality that we are living in.

I was taking photos of this beautiful historic town of Colmar and it wasn't until I looked at the images that I saw so many people walking and looking at their phones. Even when they were with other people!
Maybe I'm just old but it looked rather odd and let alone quite impolite.
What do you think?

Anyhow this house below has a unique collection of watering cans and cranes hanging from every corner of the place.
The Cranes are quite a thing in this part of the world. There are flocks of Cranes that appear all over this area in the summer breeding season.
Some make their nests on the roofs and chimneys of houses.
It just dawned on me that this house is a coffee shop. Seasonal visitors, Cranes and tourists. That's quite a clever metaphor by the owner.

Cakes are a big thing in France so here's a small selection to drool over.

Another person missing the beauty around her as she chats on her phone.
I think this may be why people seem to have such short attention spans these days as they are constantly distracted by their phones.
I get the irony that you are probably reading this on a phone! 🤣👍

I did notice that many older adults were not on their phones.

As we take our leave of Colmar for today a few things stand out.
The Alsace region is a fascinating place and if you ever just want to see beautiful architecture in a medieval town then Colmar is a must see... With your eyes. Put the phone in your pocket.
If you have mobilty problems then there is a cute little white electric train that tours the town. The location of the train is located on #worldmappin see link below.
The whole place is meticulously clean and tidy. Not a bit of trash anywhere.
How many towns can you think of in your country that can match that simple fact.
We seem to have lost civic pride in most cities and towns that I've travelled to in the UK except maybe Scotland.

Thanks for your support. This app is super useful 👍
A big part of my travels is to find a good café in the afternoon and just chill out for a couple of hours.
I am guilty of being on my mobile phone quite a lot when I'm at home, but cut down when I'm traveling except to take photos. That's an improvement I think!
Sorry to hear about the emergency, hope you didn't have to cut short your holiday too much
I must admit that you have described the way I use my phone in public especially when I don't have my camera with me.
We came home 2 weeks earlier than we planned but it was absolutely necessary.
I'll explain in another post as it turned into quite a mission. 👍
