Embracing the Cold Dawn and the Warmth of a Busy Day

I have a good habit of rising early and starting my day very early. No matter what, because it not only gives me enough time to accomplish my tasks, but also makes the day feel longer. Otherwise, when we get up very late, the day seems very short. This habit helps me enjoy my life to the fullest.

After getting up, I purified myself by performing ablution and then went to offer prayers in the nearby mosque. I spent about an hour there and then returned home. I went straight back to bed because the temperature had sharply gone down, and the chilling, biting cold makes life tough. To stay away from the cold, I went back to bed again. I finally got up at breakfast time, freshened up again, and then had my breakfast.

Since the sun was out and the winter sunshine is always pleasing, I sat in the sun for some time and then helped my mother with kitchen chores. After that, I went to visit a friend who had just shifted his shop from one place to another, closer to his house. Both of his brothers are specially-abled due to polio, and now they run shops—one has a medical shop and the other a stationery shop. They had many problems while living away from their new house, so shifting closer was a happy development for them. I went there to greet and congratulate them and spent some time with them.

In the afternoon, I spent more than two hours there and returned home around 4 PM. On my way back, the sun was beautifully shining overhead, creating lovely scenes along the road. I saw some children playing cricket in a recreational park on the banks of a stream flowing through the village. I stopped and watched the cricket for some time, which reminded me of my childhood days. Had I not had other work to do, I would have stayed longer.

While walking back, I felt disheartened to see the condition of the stream because of the pollution added to it by the people living around it. It clearly showed the negligence and ignorance that people have been showing over a period of time, and now it seems to be an irreversible loss. On my way back, I kept thinking about how to purify the stream again, and I realized that it would need the cooperation and coordination of the whole village, in fact the whole area, because these streams have been our lifeline for a long time.

After reaching home, I stuck to my old habit of reading, and today I read some engineering books that were available there. Later in the day, I went to buy some groceries from the main market of the village, which also gave me an opportunity to meet my friends, whom I rarely meet now because all of us are busy with our jobs. At around 9:30 PM, I had my dinner, and after spending some time on social media, I went to sleep to refresh myself for the new day.
