Apache: December 9 2025

Some cool shadows that I saw the other morning. They look like Ven diagrams.

Today was another busy day that was full of inactivity. I kind of hate days like this because it makes it harder for me to get a good amount of steps in. It's made me have a little bit more discipline though, which is a good thing. It makes me be deliberate about finding at least some time to work out. So today I went for a short walk. It ended up being a pretty decent workout.

I'm finishing the day with just over 6,000 steps. I also had 10 flights of stairs, but best of all, I had 24 active minutes. It might not be that much, but when you start with zero, it's a pretty decent workout.

Continuing with the theme: Each night I post the song that was playing as I ended the workout and use that as the title for the post for that day. The song for tonight was Apache by the Sugar Hill Gang. This song is a classic hip hop song. In fact, some people even call it the hip hop national anthem. I don't know that I would go that far, at least not in my era, but it definitely was in those early days. I just watched a YouTube video about this song and its origins. It's hard to believe that it originally came from a British pop song. After that, it had many regenerations, but ultimately ended up in a percussion-only bongo-centric album. And that is the album that they Sugar Hill gang sampled to make the their version of Apache. I thought that was an interesting bit of history.

Well that's it for tonight. I'll check in later.
