Pine Cone Macro Photography

Its funny when I think of amazing nature; it can be something as common as a pine cone that actually is an amazing structure made by nature. Its purpose is to play a vital role in a pine tree's reproduction. Their structure is meant to protect the developing seed, and the layers on the female ones allow them to last until these seeds are dispersed. This process can sometimes take years to complete, and many trees will also have male versions of these that are typically much smaller. Once the male cones release their pollen, they will fall from the tree, and the pollen will travel by wind to the female pine cones. Once pollinated, the female will take one and a half to three years to mature.
