Northern Ficker
This is a bird that blends in well with the trees; I am sure if it wasn't sitting on a branch stump, it might not have caught my eye. I like seeing Northern Flickers around; they are one of those types of birds where you will only see 1 or 2 at a time typically, usually a nesting pair. I find them hopping around on the ground more often than I see them up in a tree. It seems no matter what they are doing, they don't stick around for too long if they know they've been spotted.
